Mostly, yes. I will say it depends on the crowd and situation.
For example, I have been to the Fireworks on the Washington, DC mall and the crowd is HUGE. (LMAO). It was a great time, everyone was friendly, and even though it took HOURS to get onto the Metro and back to our Hotel, it was fun.
However another time, I was in a large crowd at an outdoor rock festival and it was not pleasant. Intoxicated people we starting to do really stupid things, fights were breaking out, it got ugly. We got the fuck out.
But mostly, yeah, it can be a lot of fun.
