and why?

I'm just interested because I just started working out again (one
of my new years resolutions I'm fulfilling ... albiet kinda late).
I just hit 30, felt older and decided I needed to do something to
get me back into shape again. And of course I want the big pecs
and washboard abs.
For me it's a combination of wanting to look good and living a
healthier lifestyle.

*secret fantasy* to look like Arrrnald by this time next year

And he used to look so young

You're thirty, yet, your fantasy is to look like a guy who is fifty? Odd!

I just came from the gym.

To be honest, I hate working out because I am basically a lazy fuck. I really just want to lay around and have sex, get stoned, eat, and just be a bum (see, I do have talent!).

But, it feels good when you are done and your body feels all tone and energetic. Not to mention, the adult pleasure of knowing that you are doing something that is good for you.

At New Years I was a flabby 160 (I am 5' 7"). I have been spending time on the treadmill and swimming and working out lightly with weight. On the scale this morning I was 148.7 pounds and I have not seen that in years. But I must be careful now because I really don't want to lose anymore weight, I want to reduce flab and increase lean muscle.

I need a trainer bad because I am not joe-fitness and probably waste a lot of energy toawrds nothing. Still, I feel good, I look good, and have a lot more swagger in my step, which is nice.

I'm probably a much better fuck too, but haven't had the chance to do that yet.

12 pounds since New Years is phenominal. You must be eating
your Wheaties. If you felt flabby at 160, I must be a whale at 180.

But I know what you mean about being a lazy bastard. I'm
pretty much the same and it's hard to stay motivated when
there's so much else I have to do. I do love that pumped feeling
though!!

I'll be heading to the gym after work. I go to lose weight and to feel healthier.

I don't think that it is possible to waste a bunch of energy towards nothing when it comes to working out. Any energy you use helps to lower your weight or work-out some muscles so it is all beneficial. Just my opinion anyway.

Get the book "Body for Life", by Bill Phillips and give his program a chance.

No way.

I can find better things to do than spend an hour a day in a gym.
Hmm.. I guess I'm a lazy bastard too, cause I easily spend an hour a day on here!

I have worked out off and on for 10 years and have worked out every other day for the last two. While it was difficult at first I now feel guilty if I blow off a day. If I go to the gym stressed I always leave feeling better.Im in my 40s and have been able to maintain my weight and the tone I had when I was younger. But it certainly isnt as easy as it once was!

I use to work out vigorously when I was in the Army and after my tour of duty. The military knows how to push your body and mind to the limits. First breaking your identity and building a soldier that is fit and prepared. I had a Marine buddy that I use to work out with. He was an inspirited, motivator and friend to say the least.

I would take down high carb shakes and a balanced diet due to my high metabolism. We would do an hour in the gym with free weights and cardiovascular sets in between our days, splitting the workouts to focus on upper and/or lower body. We would finish off with an hour of racquetball or running. On our off days we would do a 30 mile cycle or 12 mile run on the weekends. He would push me to my limits as well and it actually improved my memory, because exercise and Vitamin B helps improve the memory. But it also gave me a built physique. It was actually the alertness and the way I was more alert and had much more energy that motivated me. It was also needed since I ran 10 k's in the Army and ran regularly for a few years.

So, it's a few years later and I have not been to a gym, but I sprint up the escalator on the way to work and carry a brisk walk in the city. I just succumbed to shopping at Barney's and French connection while pursuing my studies as of late, ugh! I do hope that I will get back into skiing and the gym when I get to SF. I tell you, being on the West Coast and being around the air and the lay of the land motivates me to get out there and keep my body and health up to par. After all, that shower pic won't look so inviting if I am not sensitive and caring of what I do to my body.

I am glad to see that you are getting into shape and besides, sex is much better with a person that is in good health and can make love for days on end, ha!

YES!

Why? Well, a multitude of reasons for that! This year, I have found that running over my rare lunch breaks greatly reduces my job/life stress. People know the days they need to let me go hit the treadmill, I get that look in my eye...hehe. Otherwise, body parts may fly, and *not* in a good way! It is a much healthier way for me to banish stress than to eat too much, sleep too much, think too much...it brings a sort of clarity.

It feels good to have that sweaty, pushed feeling afterwards. A bit of a healthy glow. That sort of thrumming through your body, with a core of peace.

I do it to lose weight, increase strength (which helps greatly in my summer outdoor endeavors!), tone up...all sorts of little physical reasons. Cuz ya know, then I look foxier when I post nekkid pix of myself on Lit too! :D It's all good...

Exercise

Yes, I ran track in high school and I just continued because I like the way my legs look from the running.

I don't do much else tho.....

I feel better and more energetic when I exercise.

I workout at the gym four days a week, and I would do more if my body allowed it. I LOVE it. It feels great, makes me look good, and it makes my muscles tight and sexy. PLUS it gives me major stamina in bed.

I'm just starting to work out again after a couple years of not...

I don't look good naked, that's a given.. but I also get tired after about 30 minutes of "strenuous physical activity" and that's not ok. So I'm trying to get into better shape.. Not trying to look all chiseled and buff(never wanted to look that way for some reason), just trying to get to a better mid point.

i swim virtually every day...i'm not sure that qualifies as working out (as in hitting the gym) but i do at least fifty laps in an olympic sized pool while my son plays in the shallows so you can judge

i love swimming...i'm good at swimming...it keeps my body lithe and my mind sharp

I don't work out at the gym, but I run. I started when my marraige started to crumble, thinking that if only I lost some weight, made myself more attractive, that I could save the situation.
Well, of course, I couldn't, but I kept in the habit because it made me feel good about myself.
So now, I'm single and looking pretty good , if I do say so myself;)
