DO YOU VALUE YOUR FREE SPEECH ON LIT? Because Theres Censorship Right Here On Lit.

Hm, why do you think those restrictions were imposed if not because they find them distasteful?

All I've seen is their explanations stating fear of government retribution. (i.e. legalities in various jurisdictions that they may fall under.)

The only restrictions of taste that I'm aware of them having is grammatical/formatting. Do you know of any other?

Where did you see any of those things?

Brinnie, in the How To forum, you're running a thread about 'how to replace a shitty moderator' and a another thread attacking her. That looks like 'free speech' to me.

Since you have not presented any examples of alleged improper behavior, it looks that what you call 'censorship' is her moving three or four *additional* threads attacking her, calling her a stupid #$^%$# etc.

Lady G, in fact, need not permit any flames against her since they are, by definition 'off topic.'

You have access to the General Board where flames are allowed and you can do so to your heart's content. That also is free speech.

Having glanced over the 'how to remove a shitty moderator' thread, i see a few other people have noted the lack of substance or evidence around your complaints.

Brinnie replied:

THAT IS NOT MY THREAD, PEASEANT!

You are correct, Brinnie. I misspoke. [I will make the correction.] BUT

There is, in fact, a thread in How To, called 'how to get rid of a shitty moderator', under the name of 'skyy angel'.

You have access to it, and have posted to it. So the point remains, that you have free speech in that thread, about conditions in the How To forum.

The point also remains that what's currently deleted (i.e., shifted to mod queue) of yours, is simply *additional* threads of you calling Lady G names.

You can, however, start an 'anti Lady Jane' thread in the general board. For a long time there was a "Laurel is a cunt" thread, and if that's your idea of effective debate (as opposed to egg on your face), start a similar one for Lady Jane.

Hi Pure,

Sorry for calling you a peasant... I tend to do that more often these day. :rose:.

Now, In my humble opinion- and I don't care what the rules say, how you interpret 'free speech' or 'moderation'... LadyG is abusing her power.

I'm getting PM's from people who say they've written helpful tutorials, only to have it deleted/moved because they're on LadyG's bad side. I have seen it, I have fell victim and have noted and reported it AND... I have seen results.

The evidence of her abusive form of dictatorship is incontrovertable beyond any dictionary's definition and is plain to see with the human eye... Whether Manu or Laurel privately runs Literotica Online is irrelevent. General Board is irrelevant. My font color is irrelevant. Statements from other, more respected Lit Moderators is relevant.

I find the reapearance of my missing threads to be quite astonishing...

That is all I can say for now.

Freedom of speech is generally assumed to have limitations. Those limits depend upon where you are, but almost all governments that protect freedom of speech also have laws that limit that freedom. Laws that define slander and liabel and provide civil and legal penalties are one example. Laws in Many European countires that outlaw "hateful" speech are another.

In general, your freedom of speech carries with it the same limitation as your freedom to swung your fist. It ends at the exact point where my nose begins.

People who insist on exercising their freedom to speak with no bounds tend to have few friends. Most all of us censor ourselves, that self cencoring coming under headings like, tact, politeness and common courtesy.

This is not to take a side. It is merely to point out that rational limits upon one's freedom to speak exist. Some are written into law. Some are simply defined individually as acceptable and inapproriate social interaction.

Well-said Colleen, as always.

To add to that, we once had the unlimited right to bear arms. Some people used that right irresponsibly, and the government stepped in and made adjustments. If we don't take responsibility, and limit ourselves, sooner or later, things like this begin to happen. And then, after being irresponsible, we expect those in control to be perfectly responsible. A bit foolish if you ask me, and the proof of that is apparent in politics today.

Brin, if she's abusing her position here, do as you were. Instead of taking things into your own hands and starting some petition, continue to tell Laurel and Manu (without harassing them too much, please) and trust them to do the right thing. As everyone in the AH can attest, they've rarely, if ever, failed us. We've no reason not to trust them.

the system

Hi Brinnie,

you said,
I find the reapearance of my missing threads to be quite astonishing...

[again, unofficially]

perhaps it's astonishing but that's how the system was set up. when a moderator 'deletes' a thread, it's simply moved to the 'moderators' queue', which you and others can't access. you might say it's *provisionally* put in the trash can (like on your desktop), but it still exists.

at that point, if there is an appeal, e.g., to Laurel, the thread can be re instated. presumably that's why the mod queue was set up. it gives a poster a chance to ask for reconsideration.

---
PS, if, as you say, genuine 'how to' threads** are being moved, then encourage those people to protest. document what the thread is. show the documentation to Laurel. I believe others have suggested this. at the moment the 'deleted' threads i've seen are simply you calling Lady G names.

**exception: if it's how to bugger the next door neighbor's three year old daughter, or give his doberman a bj, then all bets are off.

Essetially, that's what I'm doing. I have taken screen shots and sent out to the Administration.

And believe me, with all the shit I say/post... it really does eat at me to "rat" someone out. In this case, it's an issue of ratting out a weasle. I wouldn't have taken this case if it wasn't an issue of free speech.

Next witness.

Unfortunate there's not spellcheck right here on Lit.

It's an apostrophe, hon. Right next to the semicolon you use for smileys. Used for posessives. Posessive's. Sometimes contractions. Contraction's. Jesus Christ, I hope the public education system isn't as pitiful as it is in LA, but I know it is.
