Yeah, it's frightening how many ostensibly real people will celebrate the cold blooded murder of a man in front of his children for the crime of disagreeing with them.

It’s not unreasonable to point out that the PB is full of lowlife. You weren’t partisan in saying so. It’s clearly a statement of fact that some people there are scary, just take a look. And - as a left-leaning centrist - that goes for both extremes of the political spectrum. I think reactions to essentially innocuous and factual statements need to not be blown out of all proportion to what was actually said.

If @AH_Mod has a problem, she will do something about it. It’s not up to anyone else to police what people say, including me.

Oh, the irony... It just occurred to me, I'm playing World of Warships on my main monitor, in co-op mode. All the opposing ships are AI bots.... I'm helping train them.

I'll bet some are experimenting. AI in the form of Chat GTP was recommended to me while on a cruise ship by an engineer who sat at my dinner table. He gushed about how all I had to do was give it a basic idea and it would take over. All I'd have to do later would be to change a few things like I wanted. I did not tell him how repulsed I was by the notion. I might let technology do many things for me, but construct and tell a story for me is NOT one of them.

Can you give it a whole story? I only use the original ChatGPT (for stuff like finding out if a TV series takes one episode or a season for a story - it lies 20% of the time). I don't think it would accept a whole story.

I was getting feedback chapter by chapter. sometimes it gets things mixed up (like who did what). sometimes it would talk about something completely different and I'm just staring at it, thinking wtf are you on about.

I just don't really get the point, AI doesn't magically know anything, it was trained on stuff, just go...read the stuff?

AI might get you to teh stuff faster, but that's about all I think it can do that would be useful.

You need to think of bots or LLM for that matter as you think of calculators. A calculator can do math faster than a human. An llm or a bot can create words faster than most humans. Are either intelligent? Or are they simulating intelligence?

Bots can infiltrate chat rooms and sometimes carry a conversation to unsuspecting users.

Yup, me too. I can tell it’s either AI or the it’s the same guy with little imagination. All of the answers to my questions are the same, almost word for word.
