Do you still think about.....

.....those five kids the Iraqis captured and displayed being interrogated?

I find myself thinking about them and wondering how they are.

I hope they're ok.

There are a number of media, photograhpers and journalists who haven't been seen since March 25th in Bagdad.

I worry for them and am damned angry at the 20 second blurb their disappearance warranted.

BTW...gp, yes, " kids". I have noticed that I often see photos on the news sites and they all seem like kids.

God Bless them all.

I think the "embedding" of journalists has been a disaster. The troops can't protect them and they're often left to their own devises.

The five original captured soldiers seem to have been forgotten in the rumble of the war.

God bless - as you say.

edited because I'm an idiot and used the wrong word.

Here is an article/editorial I found about embedding. I was going to start a thread with it, but it is late...

However, I agree with a lot of what this guy says.

Can embedded reporters be objective?
To provide fair coverage, shouldn't reporters be embedded with Iraqi families?

My own question, in a flippant tone, if an embedded reporter dies in combat, does he get a medal or the Darwin award?

Guess what? I am not a fan of this new coverage tool/

I think about them and their families all the time also.
One of the two kids that went down in the chopper the following Sunday, and are MIA, but I believe considered to be POW also, was someone that my family knows through a few connections.
I hold out for the small hope that they may return safely.

I think of them everyday......

If for no other reason, get into Baghdad to see if they're there, and what happened to Capt. Speicher, shot down in 1991, and last seen in Baghdad in early 2002.
There was a report Friday that Army teams found four shallow graves close to where the POWs were captured. The remains were in US Army uniforms, had been shot at close range, and a special forensic team was requested. The sex of the remains were not given. There were rumors floating around that they had been shot after the interview.
That's the last I've heard of the event.

I hope that's a rumour and not true but, if I'm honest with myself their fate was probably sealed from the start.

Their poor families, what they must be going through.

I think these five made such an impact on me because that was when the war became real to me,personally.
