Subbies? Doms? Do you smoke? Do you think there is a pattern at all?

Subbies, when you're all naked and tied, and your Dom lights up...do you wonder if he's just smoking it, or if he's going to use it on you?

I don't smoke. I tried when I was a kid, but never got into it. A lot of my friends did, though. That was a long time ago.

I might be reaching for it here, but do you think most BDSMers smoke, or not smoke or is there an equal mix of both?

Do you think if only one partner smokes, is it likely the sub or the Dom/me?

If you do smoke, do you smoke before of after sex? Or both?

Do you smoke because your partner does? If he/she didn't, would you still smoke? I know it can be that way, sometimes.

Personally, I smoke during sex. Wait for it...

And, my sub's behind does too. I tell her look at the red glow on the end of the cigarette. Her behind will look like that when I'm finished with it. Smoke and all.

I don't smoke and really have only a few friends who smoke. Sorry I couldn't be a little bit more helpful.

I really don't know if the sub or dom is more likely to smoke or whatever.

I don't smoke and can't be with anyone who does. I'm horribly allergic, and have to dope myself up on allergy meds if I'm going out with some of my friends who do.

Sorry that I can't be more helpful. :rose:

I smoke a few times a year...I smoke cigars occassionally when I am entertaining a certain cigar smoking Domme friend of Mine..it is one thing that We particularly enjoy together after We beat the asses off of our slaves.

I'm allergic. I get a runny nose, red eyes, and a scratchy throat if i'm in a smokey atmosphere. I don't like the taste of it when kissing someone either...
othat than that i don't mind it!

;\
I'm not much of a help either...

I have to say though cloves, some pipe tobacco, and black n' mild's are nice smelling...

yep, I smoke, but have to abstain frequently for the comfort of others. My dom doesn't so I take pains not to offend him by the smell of smoke on my clothes or my breath, and would never smoke in his presence. I have resorted to patches and gum to quell the craving, if we are together for a long time.

I don't smoke, have severe allergies and health issues from it....so as I have a caring Master, he has quit as of the beginning of this year. Cold turkey and successful..not only am I grateful, but proud of him as well...and I don't need to feel guity now when it snows and rains and he used to stand out in it to smoke the dreaded fag.

Catalina :rose:

I don't smoke, don't see the point in it. I think it is a weakness that both dom and sub show equally much of.

Master is totally addicted to cigarettes both physically and psychologically. At one stage He was smoking 50+ a day but since I have been living with Him He has cut down to around 30. He has tried all methods known to man to quit but hasn't been able to.....one time His blood pressure went up so high His doctor advised Him to keep smoking

I gave up smoking in 1986 after 10 years.

Lots do not realise it is the one addiction which withdrawal from can kill you.....and yet governments still continue to profit from it and regulate the potentially less harmful substances. For me I am not into any of them, but seems strange the seemingly most harmful and lethal is legal and accepted.

I want to go on the record as saying I understand smokers and their need or addiction to smoke. Some say they enjoy it. I'm sure that is true, but some would love to quit, if they could only find a way.

I have always hated being in a room where I'm the only non-smoker. Bowling alleys were the rage when I was a kid. My parents would drag me there, all of the time. I have memories of my eyes stinging, and watering, but it wasn't something we thought about, back then.

Even today, with the drive to keep the smokers out in the cold, I think it is not fair. With the laws to nearly completely ban smoking in public buildings or businesses with 50 or more employees, the smokers are forced out into a lean-to in the back, or a make shift tent to smoke.

Some companies try to do better, but I've seen some horrible conditions for smokers, because it is becoming the "nasty habit" of the world.

"It's for their own good." At least that's the montra that's getting attention. "They can't quit on their own, we'll force them to quit." But, even though I'm a non-smoker, and I hope anyone who smokes will take my wishes into consideration when they want to smoke, I would hope the changes in society will also keep the smoker's rights in mind. Some communities and also some companies are taking the situation too far, if you ask me.

These are human beings who for one reason or another still smoke. It isn't easy to quit, even if they wanted to. No matter what health reasons you state, or money issues you bring up, it should be their choice to quit. And, until that time, they should have a warm place, a dry place, a place out of the wind and weather, just like any human should have to smoke.

Sure, I've hated that smokers get 15 minute breaks and I don't. I've hated that they seemed to have rights that I didn't, at times. But, let's not let the pendelum swing too far the other way, here.

OK, now back to the thread. I love statistics, and how we all cope with the reality of it all. Some of your posts are great reading. This is just what I wanted.

Oh, and Shadowsdream, I just had to laugh at your post. There are times when there's nothing better than a good cigar! And one of those times seems to be after a good physical workout. :D

I smoke, but I have to quit. I'll be moving in with a non-smoker and I'd rather not have to go outside to have a smoke when winter comes. Besides, it's high time to quit anyway.

you know, sweetie, if I didn't have the original person who said that so vividly in my head, your saying it would be so much sexier.

Still, I understand what you mean and agree with you. And, with your own sizzling thing going, when I added mine, we could create some super heated passion. The word meltdown comes to mind, oh, but in a good way.

yeeeee-haaa cowboy! You know it!!!!

I probably wouldn't be so negative toward smokers if it weren't for my mild allergic reaction to it. If i'm in a cloud of smoke my throat will close up mid breath... My favorite club becomes one huge cloud after about 20 minuets, and i have to go outside every half an hour so i can return my eyes to a white color, ease my growing headache, blow my nose, and clear my throat. I love to dance too and i can't dance more than a song and a half without getting a horrible stitch in my side from not breathing. In a non smoking atmosphere i can dance for easily 2 hours and not have a problem with that stuff. Also i hate that i come home and i smell like an ashtray.
It just frustrates me that my health, my immediate physical condition and my clothing are all irritated and messed with because someone has a "bad habit".

And sure, i voluntarily go to this club, i do it because i know so many people there and it's much cheaper than going into Manhattan and swindling my way into the 21+ clubs. BUT, i still get it outside my living arrangements. You're not allowed to smoke in my dorms, it's against fire regulations and also we have carpeted floors, the dorms would perpetually stink if smoking was allowed. So, all the smokers collect outside the doorway under the overhang and you're forced to stand in this cloud of smoke while you try to get your key to work. We have 25 feet rules (no smoking within 25 feet of the building) but no one ever listens or enforces them. My last school i helped the smokers lobby for smoking huts... they look like bus stops on campus with 2 benches and a glass roof, so that smokers could conveniently smoke away from the building.

I don't mean to inconvenience their addiction or anything.. heaven forbid, but when i can't breath i start getting pissed. Maybe i'm selfish but i'm not holding my breath for someone else's nic-fit.

(Sorry, this was spurred on by the fact that i was just at a party in a restaurant with no non-smoking section. I have a lot of smoking friends i don't really hate you, i just hate when i'm sitting in a cloud of it.)

I don't smoke, and I have to join the allergic crew on that one. Closes up my throat, and I usually start throwing up after about five minutes with particularly offensive brands.

He doesn't smoke either, and neither of our families have anyone in them that smoke cigarettes, weirdly, though my dad does like a cigar outside every once in a while. :D

I don't think you need feel guilty ammre as though smokers may use the 'what about our rights' catchcry, so should those of us like you and I who have serious side effects from the choices others make. It is not a matter of just not liking the smell, or judging them bad for their addiction, it seriously impedes our health. Apart from the immediate problems with breathing difficulties, nausea, stomach cramps, and eye issues, it has also been proven passive smoking is a huge cancer risk.

It is one thing to assert everyone should have the choice to choose to risk their health by smoking, but I think when it is also a risk to others whose right to choose is being ignored or minimised, there is valid reason to be upset. I have health problems which I have been told are a direct result of working in a smoking environment with no ventilation over 20 years ago....I cannot reverse those problems I now have to live with.

Smokers also protest when governments and industry try and excuse us living in unsafe and toxic environments...is this so different? We are not enforcing our choice on smokers, just asking our right to choose also be acknowledged and given equal weight and consideration by compromise.

I don't smoke and would not use a cigarette to burn my sub, I guess I am too soft:( but I will do everything else except causing scars that will last on my pretty sub:heart:

Okay I try to answer some of your question.

From the times I did smoke but I still remember it :)

I quite close to eight years ago and now I one of the worst ex -smokers.

But back to your question....

>>>>I might be reaching for it here, but do you think most BDSMers smoke, or not smoke or is there an equal mix of both?<<<<

I don't think that BDSM people smokes more or less then Vanilla people.

>>>>If you do smoke, do you smoke before of after sex? Or both? <<<<

After and oh yes it always felt good to smoke a cigarette after good and bad sex :D

>>>>Do you smoke because your partner does? If he/she didn't, would you still smoke? I know it can be that way, sometimes.<<<<

No, I didn't start smoking because of my partner. I smoke because of stress.
And I wouldn't start again or I wouldn't be in a relationship with somebody how does smoke cigarettes.
The good think I don't have much friends how smoke.
One of my better friends does smokes and it is sometimes a problem for me especially in the winter time when you cant open a window.

>>>>Personally, I smoke during sex. Wait for it... <<<<

Hmm that I still like to do too. :D

And a comment on the end the big problem that both side smokers and non smokers don't want to compromises.
They both have there rights but the big problem is as a non smoker you don't have a possibility to avoid the smoke when you are with people that smoke you always depend on their willingness's not to smoke or to smoke less.

a lighthearted smoking story... my friend is a tease and horribly addicted and once while she was giving head it was taking a long long itme for him to get off so at one point she just stopped and lit up a cigarette... she's sit and puff on it and enjoy it for a bit than go back to sucking for a bit, than back to her cigarette...

That's how you can tell your an addict.

I don't smoke....unless....you get in front of me on the freeway and do 5 mph under the speed limit....
