McDonald's Fried Apple Pies?

Oh God, they were so yummy.

Our low-fat and litigious culture in America caused McDonald's to switch to the not-nearly-as-satisfying Baked Apple Pies. They just don't do it for me. The filling is not ever hot enough, and the crust is just boring.

But.

They still sell Fried Apple Pies in Mexico. I ate one this past week, and it was bliss. The crust was crispy and good, and the filling burned my tongue, just as it should. I felt like I was 11 years old again.

Nostalgia is a very good thing.

And so is pie.

i would like one extra hot please with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.

I remember my mom used to *scream* at me to wait 'til it was cool, so I'd lick the sugar and eat flakes off of the lard-laden crust until she wasn't looking...then take just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiittle nibble and burn the fuck outta myself.

That was the way it was SUPPOSED to happen, dammit. I loved it. Next time I'm in Mexico I'm gonna have to have a commemorative fried pie.

Not only are McDonalds pies not what they used to be but the same can be said for their fries. Cooking french fries in Tofu oil simply doesn't cut it. Apparently nothing is sacred anymore as companies cater to fringe groups like Peta and the fart through silk crowd. Thank goodness lard is still available to make the best pie crusts and the most tasty chicken and fries as well.

I like the packages they come in, too

I love those pies. Even when the filling burns my tongue I don't consider any lawsuit.

And, let's face it, my tongue is a valuable asset.

I worked at mcdonalds as a 16 yr old lil' devil. We used to take the hot pies right outta the fry basket and drop 'em in a bowl of soft serve ice cream. Yummity fucking yum!
