((((((((Mrs H)))))))) My goodness, I miss a day and you all get all deep & stuff on me! I agree, this has turned into a great thread. We all have that "One", don't we? Mine? He is another soul who longs for romance and a special spark in the relationship he has, but there is nothing and never will be. We shared an instant connection the first time we spoke, and if nothing else, I think we remind each other that that spark exists in our lives, even though we will never be together. In a way, it gives us both hope.

I'm sorry but I do not agree with you.

My parents? They dance in the kitchen. They leave love notes for one another

throughout their home, all the time. They hold hands when eating. There is

nothing ordinary about them. They found each other and they take so

little for granted.

This is what I want when I get old and grey. I want to have someone who will adore me more than the day we met. I want to adore that someone more than I did the day we met.

I want to spend my life with someone that even though there are ups and downs........that TOGETHER we will get through them.......and come out stronger.

So far so good Mrs H. Got a 300 mile drive coming up early morning though... Hope you're having a good one!

I'm always having a good one anew, thank you!!

Have a wonderful day and drive safe!!

He rarely calls her by her name. It is usually babe, sweetheart, darling,

and when he refers to her? It's "The Princess" "My Bride" and things like

that. She'll go into her bathroom and there will be a sticky note on her mirror

of "I love you." She does the same in return. She mails him love letters

to the house. They are constantly hugging, kissing, he pats her on the

butt and she'll giggle......... they are so in love.

This inspired me. I left a love note for my husband next to his alarm clock last night. He hasn't noticed it yet...

Uh  about #26?

That was a typo right?

-soft smile-

I think we all have stories of "One". Sometimes the fire burns hot and long and other times it smoulders out, leaving you with nothing but dust. The way I see it is you need to embrace the experience, acknowledge the positive ways that person changed you, then blow the ashes into the wind, because if I have learned anything over the years, it's that measuring all others against the "One" is an exercise in futility and completely undermines the potential of new possibilities.

Apologies for coming to Mrs.H's party late. But I saw this from Riles and it prompts a real question for me.

I get and understand what Riles says about the "One". The experience, the memories, the reawakening that I can love again, and yes the way it has changed me.

I also get that it can and does undermine my ability to have other relationships by always comparing what once was with what could be.

Sooooo....how do I get over it? Is it a matter of having enough time pass?

Sometimes the blowing of the ashes reveals the ember still glowing underneath.

Just having a reflective moment. Thanks Mrs.H for this thread...:rose:

Then inside the box you can write a thought for every day of what you remember as your great memories with her in your relationship, or things you like about her, reasons why you fell in love with her or even things you want to plan with her for the future. Then tell her when she receives this magic box that when ever she feels lonely like me when I am not with her or thinks of what I am thinking about throughout the day, she can open the box and be reminded that she is all I am thinking about.

Thanks for posting Mrs H- great ideas and excuse my smart-ass remarks.

:rose:

Rycat,

I'm sure there are others who can answer this from their experiences. For me, this is a learning process currently in the works.

I think the ways and means to 'moving on' are different for everyone. There's no written rule on how to gain closure. Some people use rebounds - ie. best way to get over one is to get under another. Others do a form of exorcism and kill off the lasting emotions. Or it can be a waiting game and they let time dull the memories.

I don't know if my situation has been unique or not, but I've been given the opportunity to work at this several times over and I have found that I gain more accurate perspective after repeated injury to both my pride and my heart. I am learning that rejection is both humbling and helpful, exposing weaknesses and taking the shine off the surface so I can see things as they really are. Painful, yes. But necessary too, since each time I have come back from sorrow to be much stronger and have my needs and wants better defined.

So maybe that's what you need? Take the shine off a little...

Thank you Riles for the insight. Taking the shine off is easier said than done for me. It might be timing. I think for me it probably is the waiting game.

How long has it been for one's separation for what ever reason. It might be personalities as well. Who knows...to each his own I guess.

I have just recently been contacted by my past and we had a brief exchange. Good? Yeah I think so. The circumstances of our breakup left a lot to be desired but then I believe that goes for anyone of a million breakups doesn't it? We will talk some more.

What ever happens she will occupy a place in my heart till the day I die.

As I wondered about this the other day is it like the "first love" back in high school? Where our hearts are virginal?

Or...is this something that has been building up over the years in our primary R's and when we meet up with someone in the same place and all of a sudden a void is being filled we rush towards consummating the relationship?

*Reflective smile*...things to ponder. And a great place to ponder!
