Do You Need Inspiration?

I was just sitting here browsing through the threads and it occurred to me: I only feel inspired to say something when certain members are on the board.

This isn't one of those "list" threads so I won't ask you to name names. But, there are about 3 members that truely inspire me post, one in particular. When they are not posting in their perspective forums, I am just so Oh Hum.

I also noticed that some people don't post a thread unless they are making a comment about another member of the board, or something another member said on the board.

So, I guess I am asking all of you. Do you need to feel inspired before you post on the boards?

It really depends on the topics that are present. Sometimes the BB has a more humorous/mischievious feel and other nights it has a more serious tone.

It does seem that some nights are more fun than others, and posting seems to come easily. On the other hand there are some days where one may be hard pressed to answer a single thread, for lack of something to say!;)

I seem to do more reading than posting on the whole, but I enjoy certain topics, both humorous and serious. I do find that there are a handful of users that I gravitate towards because of the way they project themselves in their writings.

It depends on my mood. My habits at lit are quite cyclic. Current trend is foolishness and sarcasm during my posting frenzy.

Then, I will cycle down and only post on threads that inspire my response... one or two posts a day.

It really raises hell with my posting average, but who cares? :D

I think that also explains my posting #'s. Mine are considerably lower than a lot of members who have less time on the board than I do. Sometimes I feel playful and silly and will post on numerous threads. But most of the time, my replies are thought out and heart felt, therefore.. few in number.

I'd have to say yes

If I'm not starting a thread, which is rare, I guess I'm reacting to someone else's post in some fashion. When I check the board I usually read the titles on the first page and look at the interesting ones. Certain members are more likely to grab my attention. Then I check the recent posts of a number of different people, they are usually on the more active threads and it saves a lot of time searching, plus I'm interested in what they are up to. And sometimes I post. I thought that was how everybody did it.

Seriously... I haven't had as much time here as I would like - though its picking up a bit lately...

Therefore I have a sort of priority in what threads I open. I check the topics - if one strikes my mood at the time I'll open it. I check who started the thread - there are certain people whose threads I will almost always read (even if I don't always respond) - there are others whose threads I will almost always ignore (unless the topic is too appealing).

I'll try and check as many pages as it takes to catch up on when I last checked - based on my criteria above. I'll try and read threads I've started recently to see if there has been any responses.

Occaisionally I'll use the search feature to see whose posted on what or pull up an older thread. I haven't done this as much lately since the feature has been broken and doesn't work past a certain date.

I don't necessarily look for certain board members

to feel the inspiration to post. But, if the banter is quite flirtatious, I tend not to jump in. Mainly because everyone knows everyone already (it seems), and I am just waiting to get to know everyone first.

Mainly I post to threads like this, where a question is asked and I answer it. :)

The Answer

Inspiration, along with genious does strike at times like a bolt of lightning.I view myself as a reactionary.Possibly I could develope the (Art) of inspiration, but as I ponder and contemplate the awesome difficulties that arise with an abundance of that talent,I easily slip back into complacency, comfy with who and what I am.

P.S.
Thanks for posing the question though,I hope I (reacted) in a satisfactory manner.

Okay! I think the posting frenzy is over as I am just cruising through the threads and tapping my fingers on the desk, waiting for something incredibly to strike my fancy.

No offense intended to any other posters,.....it is my mood.

:)

Yes...

I post in the RP forum everyday...on other forums, usually not. On RP I actually get to WRITE, and that's inspiration enough. On here, I seldom post unless I have something to say...otherwise, I basically just post when something strikes me as interesting. I guess that's a yes. Usually I have to know the topic in advance, as in have an interest already, like when I posted on the It's Twue thread lilminx started the other day.
You can tell when I'm truly connected witha topic, though, cuz I write forever...in fact, you probably don't read them for fear of falling asleep before you're finished.

Oh I definitely need inspiration to post. There has to be something about which I have some kind of interest. That, or there needs to be a poster there I can post to, and who will post back (you happen to be one of those folks, SK).

There's nothing worse than posting something to a thread and having it pretty much ignored - fall flat and die pathetically. So I choose my postings carefully (not like you'd know from my post count!). :D

OMG!! I so totally agree!! I mean, this could be a whole new thread in it's self!! That is one of the big "WHYs" of the universe that may never be explained.

Well, some of it, at least for me, is that my posts can really be insipid. :) That accounts for most of it, actually.

But it does puzzle me when, on rare occasion, I've actually done some thinking, posted carefully, and then...

*thud*

...nothing. Nada. That continues to puzzle me.

Maybe I can apply for a grant to study the "Mystery of Dead Posts". Where's the Federal Government when you need it? Huh??

not gonna name any names but....

there is a lady that posted a thread that required some thought process before one could post. i really value this woman as a writer and her opinion as an educated woman. (that is the reason i open her threads) so, i was totally amazed when she didn't reply back to her thread after her initial post. i mean... what's up with that? it's like you said... i felt like my reply and that of the other posters was pretty much ignored. sometimes it is nice for the author to validate their own thread... right?

Right. I mean, you start the discussion, it's on you to make sure the folks in it are welcome, and to re-guide things, if necessary.

Now, here's a question for you. Ever open two browser windows because you were posting so much that one wasn't enough?

:)

haha ummmm in this forum (literotica) I haven't! *wink*

In another forum I did 'cause the thread I was involved in was going so slow, so I got into another one at the same time. have you ever accidently posted something to the wrong thread?? hehe I almost did that once... caught myself just before hitting the 'send' button.... unlike Lilt this place didn't have an ~edit~ option  haha

Woo hoo multi tasking!

I thought I had the lit bug bad. :D

Stopped in to agree with you and SK. :)

We're bad, you know. We deserve each other, and MissTaken too.

We all need help, and that's why I sooo dig this place. ;)

I'm an old newbie (or a new oldbie if you prefer) ;)

I don't know many people here so I just find what looks like and interesting thread and post! If

I post if I got something to say in response to what has been posted, or I got a stupid little something that might bring a laugh.

I have something to say that doesn't fit any of the other posts, then I have no problem starting a thread.

I usually start on the last page (40 posts per page, 5 days). I look for posts that no one responded to. They bother me. I try my best to think of something to add. Unless I don't like the poster, or the poster is not registered. I will not respond to someone who is not willing to be part of the board, or is too embarrassed to tell us who they really are.
