Do you log off each time you leave lit

or do you want others to see what you have posted

Um... what you post doesn't disappear just because you log off.

The only way to prevent someone else from seeing what you've posted, is to physically edit [manually erase] your posts, and request anyone who quoted you to go back and edit their posts which quoted you.

I think what he was trying to say is that if you stay logged in and someone else uses that computer which automatically keeps you logged in then that person would be able to see your logged in name and figure out who you were. If you aren't logged in they can still see all of the posts but they would then have to figure out what your login name was. My computers usually log me out automatically whenver I leave but it seems that on occasion, if I sign in to Lit Stories, it automatically keeps me logged in when I leave the computer. I don't like when that happens.

This site creates cookies on your computer. If you click on the box "remember me" beside your login, that creates a cookie that logs you in automatically, when you come back to the site. If other people use your computer and you don't want them to know who you are logging in as, don't click on that box. It won't stop people from getting to the site, but they won't be able to tell who you log in as.

By clicking that box, if they were to visit the site, they would be greeted by a little notice up by the login area that states "welcome back [insert your name here]" or something like that. It also shows the last time you had visited the site.

@desertslave: It is not so much I have a shared laptop but if a peep know I posted and wanted to see what I had said or who I had been chatting with it may be of some concern.

@Etoil: That is French for star correct?

Thank you both for the responces.

I log off, clear cookies, clear history, clear forms and passwords and temp internet files and close main screen.
Once I got on computer after my teen age granddaughter had been on and read sex stories etc that she had been on. That's how I ended up later finding LIT. I have been on my other computer and found that my daughter n lw had not ck'd off the keep me signed in on facebook and I could've posted on her's etc. I try to be sure that I take all precautions that security is taken and my use is kept private.

Damn, short of formatting your drive and reinstalling Windows and your browser, I think that's just about as far as you can go. :D

You could have a Windows login for yourself and a login for others. That way, they wouldn't be able to get to your stuff...unless they knew your login and password. It's not that difficult to create a login for others and set your stuff to admin status or something so they can't access it. But, if you do create one, you have to remember to log off when you're not using it.

But, I totally understand, when you have someone else who shares your computer...or might share it. Cookies and auto-login stuff is great, but not when someone else might use your computer.
