can you really define your masculinity/feminity--your weakness/your strength
does it matter
if a building is burning down I rouse myself from my eternl torpor and make some vague attempt to be heroic (not better than other bystanders) but in the absence of crisis I sleep--my whole life is soporific.
I found this particularly in various military endeavours on three occasions in two countries
the concept of the clever and lazy officer as the highest good
(the stupid and lazy officer does no harm but neither do he nor she effect anything good)
the clever and lazy officer shoots out of the box in crisis like a cannon shell but is totally useless in peacetime--a pure oxygen thief
then there's the stupid and lazy officer who is even less offensive and the stupid and energetic officer who--almost alone--does the MOST harm.
