Do you guys get turned by your own stories?

As long as it's in non-erotic that's totally fine.

The problem with me is when I open a story to get off to...and they person focus is things of a non-sexual nature. It's rather annoying. Thank you for respecting my opinion.

That's why I'd make sure to put a disclaimer at the very top of the story to warn folks about the lack of sex content. I've never had to do that so far, though.

I hear ya, big time.

I did plenty of smut writing before I met my partner, but I can't imagine writing anything worth a damn without having her in mind as I write. Additionally, I begin to feel rather exposed because I have thought so much of her when writing things I post here. It's like inviting folks into my bedroom for a show without selling tickets.

and even when you try to just blend enough reality to make you and the 'intended' feel it, and just enough fantasy to make it not completely the camcorder view... you still feel exposed! yeesh!

and given that there are certain ppl that i need to keep in the dark about my writing, i have to try to factor some 'anonymity' in as well... (as in, not give away specific places, names, etc.... you know... 'names have been changed to protect the guilty'...!)

My feelings completely.
But, I had one pc on a story, where the only thing the guy could find to criticise, was my use of commas, in one specific sentence of the story. He even went to the trouble of re-writing it for me, with the correct use.

That guiy needs his anal gland milked...he's getting a build up of fluid in his brain.

When I'm writing stroke, I agree. However, there are times when I'm writing sex that doesn't crank my motor. For example, there's a rape/retaliation chapter in a novel-length WIP that might (probably will) get some folks revved up. Does nothing for me, though.

I'm not at all sure that I could write something that revolted me. If that makes me a bad writer so be it but I have to imagine, in more explicit detail than I put on the page, everything that's going on in a story that I'm writing. I see every step that my characters take, every twitch of the brow, every flick of the hair, whether I put it down or not and I simply don't think I could let myself image something that I find grotesque in enough detail to write it convincingly. *shrug* I could write something that doesn't turn me on, I think, but not something that actively turned me off or disgusted me.
