Do you think all who read here are deaf dumb and blind? They know, as well as I do that you simply 'don't get it', on most issues.

amicus....

If anyone is looking at me with disdain, shaking their heads and going, "That boy just doesn't get it," then can I have a heads up? Lurkers too. I'm curious to meet the majority that considers all of my opinions to be wrong.

I get the feeling, quite early on, that this thread's gonna be good for my ego. :D

i don't think 'cute' is quite the right word. Not strong enough. But a darn good start.

Earl, I'm not even going to adress the issue of your getting-it-ableness.

Have you considered WHO said that you don't get it? Experience should tell you not to take his categorical blurts the least bit seriously.

I thought you'd gotten that by now. ;)

Yeah. I could say some pretty naughty things about a certain av of the Earl's, but I thought that was probably beside the point of this thread. :D

Now, now ladies, this should not be a question of my cuteness. This isn't a childish thread of attention grabbing just because I'm devastatingly handsome and modest with it.

This is a very sensible, mature thread about proving that my friends could beat up amicus's friends.

This is true. Could be fine trying to come up with one-word descriptions of his avs, though. Shall we start a thread for the purpose, or just hijack further?

Yeah, but it's a given that your friends could beat up his friends.

But my dad could beat up yours. :D

I think you "get it" very well. :D

(want me to beat him up for you?)

Who knows, Earl. Ami does have his intelligence also. Your opinions are you and you do NOT need to post a thread to prove him wrong or right - he just talks and people get upset.

You are The Earl. Is that not good enough? ;)

Seriously speaking - whom doesn't agree with me on most of my political views. I won't be offended; I'm aware that several of my opinions lie to the right of the Lit mainstream.

'fraid it might just be a "love The Earl" thread. You have a lovely, lovely ego ;)

I have my basic problem with those people who feel that because others do not ascribe to their particular opinion, those other people are dumb. I see those who cannot tolerate differences of opinion or accept that there is a possibility they are not chosen by Divine Providence to be the arbitrators of all things as scared -- deeply, primally firghtened. They lack true conviction. They require others to agree with them in order to feel confident they have, indeed, chosen correctly. Standing alone, in silence, and simply believing what they believe no matter what is beyond them. They must rail against the unfairness, the blindness, etc. of those who will not drop their own right to have an opinion or a thought and fall into step.

The big problem with opinions is that they differ, sometimes subtly, other times more broadly. But implicit in these differences is the idea that someone is WRONG and someone is RIGHT -- right in that they stand in the light, they are the annointed, the blessed, the indesputable, the best (add the descriptor of your choice). To be wrong is to be outcast, blasted, cast into darkness, all things blighted and terrible. So, to be RIGHT is the ultimate goal, because to be wrong is like death.

Few are those who seek to be wrong. Most people want to be right. And to be right, many people require the corroboration and agreement of others. That's why some people will chose to be right over being kind, being fair, being tolerant, or even being loved.

You'd think they were going to get a prize at the end.

So I don't dispise such people. I try not to be too near them, since I cause them distress when I disagree. There is always the possibility I am wrong and I accept that. I also accept it isn't necessarily a death sentence to be wrong. And in a world of infinites, there maybe more variations of right and wrong (Plato's absolutes notwithstanding) than we, as finite beings, can comprehend. So I chose my beliefs and I stand with them, alone.

You can disagree, of course, and I might change my mind, but if I don't, it doesn't mean I don't love you ;)

Dude, I don't know most of your political ideas.

The only one I'm aware of, that resource redistribution should be kept to a minimum, but not to the point of idiocy, sounds sensible enough to me.

Da 'Frisco Gang will happily put aside our kidnapping plot for the moment and take out a contract on amicus. You want we should divy up the parts or just sink him in the river?

Anythin' for Da Earl (pronounced "Oil")
"Lucky" 3113 speaking for "Frisco" Norajane and Tom "Wheels" Collins.

Honestly, o great and wonderful Earl, i don't always agree with your political standing, but can see where you're coming from. Just like i don't agree with amicus most of the time, but can see where he's coming from. Both of you tend to have valid points if they can be weeded out from the rest of stuff (more wading through his than yours).

Can we get back to the avs now?

I betcha sound just like Micky Rooney in "Little Lord Fauntleroy" when you say that.

I've not met anyone on the board that I agree with 100% of the time, but Earl, you've never said anything that I found offensive or ignorant or totally wrong.

Thye're not that scary. Mostly about high funding for education and local sport, lowering bureaucracy, removing Big Government, reducing taxes and unnecessary benefit/subsidies to reduce the poverty trap, removing as much intervention from the market as possible, vigorously Anglo-centric and patriotic.

Right wing, but not by a huge margin.

My personal Liar got it right - DO think Sexy Earl. DO!!!

Just as a "P.S." --Of course you get it! There are times when people don't get it. It happens. But a lot of time, "you don't get it!" is another way of saying, "Uh-oh, he's making good points and making me look like an ass! I'd better mow him down with a personal insult!"

The person arguing with you might as well have pointed and said, "Look over there! the Pope!" and then run away.
