Do we wish to end the filibuster now?

I have always wanted the filibuster abolished, no matter which party controlled the Senate at the time.

I have also always wanted the Senate abolished, no matter which party controlled it at the time.

That the table has turned?

Yes.

What policy decisions will the "republicans" make that will not ultimately backfire on them if they eliminate the filibuster???

🤔

I suspect they won’t end the filibuster to gut Social Security, Medicare, and end the ACA (and maybe enact a nationwide abortion ban), but if they do…well…say goodbye to the "republican" party.

😑

On the other hand: When the Democrats regain power after DonOld and the MAGAt "republicans" inevitably fuck up the economy…again… (or fail to deliver on any promises except a tax cut for the rich), the filibuster being gone would allow for Sulreme Court reforms which are widely popular with both parties voters, and it would allow for codifying Roe, single payer healthcare, and a whole host of popular programs that benefit voters from both parties.

There really is no downside for the Democratic Party if the filibuster goes away.

Repeal the 17th!!!!

Priorities....1) Abolish Electoral College as it stands, change to one electoral vote per each congressional district (like Nebraska). THEN 2) abolish the fillibuster and do away with "tyranny of the minority". 3) Expand the Supreme Court one seat per election cycle going forward until the number of justices matches the number of judicial districts (currently 13 districts). 4) Impeach Kavanaugh.

The answer is no, the filibuster is safe from leftist thugs who are too stupid to understand it will work to their advantage now that the tables are turned in the Senate.

The Electoral College has twice in my lifetime (2000 and 2016) fucked this country over. Jefferson was right. The earth belongs to the living, not the dead. It's time to scrap it. We wouldn't even be having this discussion without the Electoral College. I don't care what form it takes, but something must be done to give more voting rights to people than to empty tracts of land.

They aren't pushing for a national abortion ban, that political thorn is best left int he hoof of the democrats to rot and fester until they are forced to give it up or suffer further losses when everyone sees through their lies about it. Their very best move is to never bother with it again and most of the GOP knows it.

Gutting the welfare state and parasitical bureaucracies that literally exist just to exist and suck up money. Will not blow up in their face...might blow out the democrats ability to take other peoples shit and actually produce some value of their own but that's not a problem right??? You guys who need us to pay your bills are so much better at everything than we are right? :ROFLMAO:

Harry Reid exercised the nuclear option. It escalated. Not sure how many Democrats are happy with the result. Do they really want a GOP senate and Trump White House passing laws with no filibuster? Do they want Trump and the GOP Senate packing the court?
