That the table has turned?
I have always wanted the filibuster abolished, no matter which party controlled the Senate at the time.
I have also always wanted the Senate abolished, no matter which party controlled it at the time.
What would be the point of that?!Repeal the 17th!!!!
And the 16th!!!!!!!!Repeal the 17th!!!!
You have to quit drinking.Priorities....1) Abolish Electoral College as it stands, change to one electoral vote per each congressional district (like Nebraska). THEN 2) abolish the fillibuster and do away with "tyranny of the minority". 3) Expand the Supreme Court one seat per election cycle going forward until the number of justices matches the number of judicial districts (currently 13 districts). 4) Impeach Kavanaugh.
The Electoral College has twice in my lifetime (2000 and 2016) fucked this country over. Jefferson was right. The earth belongs to the living, not the dead. It's time to scrap it. We wouldn't even be having this discussion without the Electoral College. I don't care what form it takes, but something must be done to give more voting rights to people than to empty tracts of land.Priorities....1) Abolish Electoral College as it stands, change to one electoral vote per each congressional district (like Nebraska). Yes.
What policy decisions will the "republicans" make that will not ultimately backfire on them if they eliminate the filibuster???
I suspect they won’t end the filibuster to gut Social Security, Medicare, and end the ACA (and maybe enact a nationwide abortion ban), but if they do…well…say goodbye to the "republican" party.
On the other hand: When the Democrats regain power after DonOld and the MAGAt "republicans" inevitably fuck up the economy…again… (or fail to deliver on any promises except a tax cut for the rich), the filibuster being gone would allow for Sulreme Court reforms which are widely popular with both parties voters, and it would allow for codifying Roe, single payer healthcare, and a whole host of popular programs that benefit voters from both parties.
There really is no downside for the Democratic Party if the filibuster goes away.

For WHAT?4) Impeach Kavanaugh.
That ended under Clinton.Gutting the welfare state
And that never existed.and parasitical bureaucracies that literally exist just to exist and suck up money.
Nobody on the left with a brain is talking about packing the court now that Trump will be picking Justices.Absolutely, AND pack the court.
That ended under Clinton.
And that never existed.
And the 19th!!!And the 16th!!!!!!!!
Those don't exist either.thuggish alphabet cronies gone wild
Those don't exist either.
Funny how that works, what?Nobody on the left with a brain is talking about packing the court now that Trump will be picking Justices.
Be careful what you wish for. The definition of an “effective filibuster” could be established by people who define it differently than you.We need a more effective fillibuster.
