like Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan and Syria who finance, harbor, and support terrorists?

Are you ready for a war, or just another smoking aspirin factory?

I can't either, sis. I'm very afraid of what might happen when we finally know who masterminded and harbored the attacks. I'm very afraid of it. :(

The biggest problem we face is not......

tracking down the individuals responsible and retaliating. It is the creation of martyrs, in the eyes of Islamic fundamentalists, which in turn will give birth to a new generation of suicidal fanatics.

That's the frightening aspect.

WAR

One Cell at a time till their are no more Cells, again i agree with Colin Powell. Yes a terrible price will be paid all over the World. Go to the Wall in D.C. , Arlington National Cemetary, true freedom is very costly and always has been for those seeking it. Terroism cannot be allowed to continue.

WD,
Then you must also include the U.S. in the area of finance. A lot of money to support terrorist causes comes right from here - the good, ol' US of A. By people who are citizens. Are we prepared to try to find those among us who support and aid such fanatics?

Just a thought....

An interesting thought, but not a new situation. Joseph Kennedy, father of John, supported Hitler, as did many others. There are American Nazis, American Socialists, American Fascists, White Supremisicts -- all ready to act on Jefferson's passage about "tearing down the government", many of whom receive support and recognition from foreign organizations. The worst American responses to the "danger within" have been Japanese Internment camps and the Red Scare that manifested itself in McCarthyism and black-listing, and I hope we don't find a repetition of anything like that. But an open society will always have two fronts, foreign and domestic. So, yeah, I'm prepared for that.

And...

when the dust settles there will still be terrorists.

Then again we could just make the whole planet unlivable...no humans=no terrorists.

If you are afraid, they have achieved their objective.

i believe you have to catch who did this and to stop them

but you cant just go to war to make yourselves feel better even though its tempting it wont bring back the people that died

why make another country pay like america has paid if they didnt really do it

also if you attack a country you will be feeding the fanaticism you will be making more terrorist

need to catch the inhuman assholes that did this in a precise way and make them pay

That would hinge on them actually being cowed by our military might.

They have no fear of death so they would not be afraid to fuck with us again.

They know what we can do....the highway of death in Kuwait is ample proof...and yet they are still unafraid.

But We grew soft hearted and stopped on the highway of death. I think you will find the World will not stop now.

He doesn't have to. He is able to get others to do it for him. When and if he dies others will take his place.

They are willing and proud to die for their cause. Fear of retribution is not a factor to them.

Because we fear death does not mean others do.

Get those who did it. Leave the rest alone.

To anyone who thinks this is not a reason to go to war, send me your address and I'll UPS you the 5 lb. tub of Imperial margarine- because if we don't take these fuckers out and send a serious message to all their buddies around the world, they will just keep reaming us from here to eternity.

Waht we do -

will either be effective in terminating a threat, or it will be ineffective. If the latter, we'll be in worse trouble. Defeating an enemy is NOT about showing them how tough you are; war is not an issue decided by flexing muscles. It's about WINNING, defeating an opponent, or at least pinning tghem and exhausting them. This is a very difficult enemy with very little to lose. I fear that our macho talk is hollow and makes them stronger. Calling them cowards makes them stronger. Bombing civilians will make them stronger. I want them captured (or killed), exposed, and the issues that help foster them solved. Because we are confronted with a cultural war here, and I think they just showed us why bluster and money don't necessarily win. A lof the talk I see and hear is in the line of: "Now you went and did it, you're REALLY gonna get it!" Folks, let's assume these are the people who 1) bombed the WTC before 2) bombed the embassies 3) nearly sank one of the highest tech military vessels in the history fo the world. You think the US government wasn't after these people? You think Quaddafi himself isn't afraid of them? You think some ass-whupping will solve things quickly? You're sadly, and typically, mistaken. This is only the beginning of a horrible, complex process. I don't even see it as a national issue, more as a cultural one. And I see Timothy McVeigh as one with this week's terrorists; he was closer to their culture than to mine.

Sending messages.

And suppose they don't care what the message is.

They have nothing to lose. A very dangerous foe.

shadowsource said it best, we need to address the root causes of the unrest. One of those is Israel and it's heavyhanded behaviour.

FYI...we don't need Israel A-Jacks, they need us.

You really expect them to throw their hands in the air and say "OK, OK you win we won't do it no more!"

Apparently we are getting ready to do something and I think it will be an attempt to grab Bin Ladin. I fully support this type of action. Drag him in in chains....very humiliating for a "martyr"

I am a bit concerned about Bush's visit to NYC tomorrow. Pakistan has nukes and might not be above handing one over to the terrorists. They could smuggle it in in a suitcase.
