I'm sick, my head hurts, so I don't feel like searching.

If there's a cookie recipe thread on the forum yet can someone link my lazy ass to it?
 
There's two recipe threads, but I don't remember seeing one that was just cookies. Obviously, it's about time for one! Who'd like to start?
 
MOLASSES CRINKLES

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable shortening at room temperature
1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup molasses (not robust or blackstrap)
About 1/3 cup sanding or granulated sugar* for tops of cookies

Whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and salt in a bowl until combined.

Beat together shortening, butter, and brown sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes in a stand mixer (preferably fitted with paddle attachment) or 6 minutes with a handheld. Add egg and molasses, beating until combined. Reduce speed to low, then mix in flour mixture until combined.

Put oven racks in upper and lower thirds of oven and preheat oven to 375°F.

Roll 1 heaping teaspoon of dough into a 1-inch ball with wet hands, then dip 1 end of ball in sanding sugar. Make more cookies in same manner, arranging them, sugared side up, 2 inches apart on 2 ungreased baking sheets.

Bake cookies, switching position of sheets halfway through baking, until undersides are golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes total, then cool on sheets 1 minute. Transfer to racks to cool completely. Make more cookies with remaining dough on cooled baking sheets.

Cooks' note:
Cookies keep, layered between sheets of wax paper or parchment, in an airtight container at room temperature 2 weeks. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
 
A few days ago I saw a show on the Food Network all about Holiday cookies. They have a team of people who work most of the year perfecting cookies. They make up new recipes or do new twists on old ones, and just make batches and batches to find the perfect recipe. Then, of course they have to eat them all to see which is the best....It's my dream job! I was so jealous...

I bet that you could work from home and make experimental cookies. Making money at it might be different.

I bet someone could come up with a line of S/M fetish gingerbread cookies that are simply hilarious as holiday gifts and sell them like mad over the internet.

Gingerbread slave girl would be all kinds of cute!

I'll have to get artistic and try it out.
 
Okay, I'm going to try out those molasses crinkles but since I'm me I gotta fuck with the recipe. So far I've just added a bit of honey and substituted virgin coconut oil for the shortening.

I also have some berry pulp from the juicer as a little while ago I juiced a bunch of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries and I might add that to part of the cookie batches. Some probably in the dough and some on top. Maybe all on top for the berry ones.

Or I could mix berry pulp with some honey and cream cheese and get some white bread and mint leaves and make little finger sammiches with the crusts cut off and all fancy.

I always substitute butter or margarine for shortening.
 
one of my favorite recipes:

8 ounces of milk
one tablespoon of hershey's dark chocolate syrup
spoon
plate of cookies
long switch, ruler, wooden spoon or similar instrument of destruction.


Add the hershey's to the milk and stir. Eat cookies one by one interspersed with sips of chocolatey milk. Use implement of destruction to whap the fingers of would-be cookie thieves.
 
Allright, I give up.

Betticus cannot bake for shit! I am cursed. I can bbq all day long, I can make fabulous soups, sauces and even some very intricate succulent dishes but I cannot fucking bake a damn cookie to save my life.
