Do some topics post faster then others?

Hello all, relatively new author to Lit here. I wrote a 5 part story in the incest/Taboo category and noticed that each of the five parts was up in 3 days, like clockwork. I just finished a story for Erotic Coupling section and it's been four days and still nothing.

So i am just curious. Do some sections approve faster then others, because of the demand and number of stories submitted each day? I notice Erotic Coupling has one new story a day, or two, but Incest/Taboo has close to 7-9 a day.

Thank for for any help you can give.

One of my pending stories disappeared yesterday and I had a brief exchange with Laurel, who runs Lit with Manu.

She said that Lit is up to around 1.5 million unique people visiting a day - with quite a bit more pageviews as they browse. She said that posting delays are not so much contest related as due to an increase in overall submissions.

She posts about 100 stories most days, is at about 4 days lag now and hopes to get back to their preferred gap of 3 days between submission and posting in a week or so. No mention of category differential was mentioned or implied.

If you submitted all the parts at once, then it's usual for Laurel to set them up all at once to post one per day. So in that case, going up like clockwork is the norm.

As to the three day approval for the first one, you got lucky as Laurel works hard to get things back on the previous schedule.

As to the number of incest stories approved, that's just a function of how many people are writing them. Those who are in the know tend to avoid Erotic Couplings whenever possible in favor of a narrower category. Due to the catch-all nature of EC, it simply doesn't have a strong readership base. Virtually all the readers are casual, and thus less likely to vote, comment, favorite, etc.

A story with a 36 year-old Milf and a 12 year gap to the male protagonist posted in EC will get 10k views and somewhere between 100-200 votes. Post that same story in Mature and it's more likely to have 50k views and 500 votes. Not to mention the dramatic increase in votes and everything else.

EC should always be your last resort.

I don't think one category posts any faster than another one in prose when submited to the noncontest file (I've posted to 21 separate categories and haven't seen a difference)--other than the "multiple chapters submitted at once" example Dark gives.

Poetry does post faster than prose.
