Do people read peoms?

I don't remember the last time I read I peom. In fact, I am not quite sure that I would recognize one if I read one.

I have read peotry, though. In Poetry magazine. Same kind of thing?

Anybody who wants to improve writing poetry, does a little reading of poetry. :)

Plus there's always those odd people who just read poetry at bedtime instead of getting out a good engrossing novel.

:D

Tzara, are you one of the bedtime poetry readers?

I read poetry often. and I understand your disillusionment about the low reader counts for poetry. It's because this is a porn site and probably most people that come here are looking for stroke stories, which I wrote when I first came here, under a different name.

ie, I had one story, a how-to on swallowing, yeah, that was me, in a few short months it had over a hundred thousand clicks... and was actually hijacked by Maxim magazine...blew me away, ( for lack of better words:D)

Then a magical poetess named WickedEve invited me here, after reading my first sad attempt at poetry in almost 25 years and I sorta hung around and learned a lot. made some friends, showed everyone how crazy I was and some of them love me anyway ;)

what I'm trying to say..I kept posting poetry out of a love of the people and the place and eventually got very little satisfaction from posting my work here because of the fact you mention. I still lurk, post a poem I need to have posted just to keep up with it and read something posted here every day that I have access to a computer.

One way to get more readers is a suggestive title, like Cum Sucker in Paradise, would probably get a million clicks, wel, not a million....

dont get discouraged, it takes a while to build a reader base, write because you love it, or because you feel the need to, any other reason and you might not achieve the level of happiness you seek

Not quite word for word, but that was my first thought.

And, like you, I read plenty of poetry. I've been trying to vary my intake a bit, read some Bukowski and some Browning recently.

That last poemetric book by Kim Addonizio is just, la la, lying by my bedside, m'dear. A cause it's cheaper than Viagra and, hey!, reusable. :)

Poetry. The one legal aphrodisiac.

Better pub credit than I've ever gotten, ghostie.

I think you need a lawyer. :rose:

Hey, Purple.

Forget the typo. Thanks for not being tense about it. Joke, bud.

I think your original question has already been covered. Poems like don't get read a lot. Way it goes.

Way it goes.

You write poems? :)

Hey I dont take offence at much!

Yeah I write poems and I read poems - I love a well crafted poem.

I told them I had one and they could pay me or remove the link to my story from their website and they did, with an apology but no check, lol

In retrospect, it might have been a good jumping off point in my pseudo-porn star career :D

I might repost that bugger ;)

You Need Two Things

Visibility's one of the things that you need,
And you also must be entertaining,
And boredom's a prison from where we'd be freed,
But as readers we rather get laid than to read
All the drivel the writer is draining.

Well Said!
