Do I have an accent?

I'm sorry, I couldn't quite understand you. It sounds like you are speaking English...but not quite.

Do you imagine how a poster's voice when you read their posts? Does their AV influence how you think they sound?

Well your current AV would make speech quite difficult, I think.

I have to say that the av does influence what I think the person looks like and sounds like.

God, I wonder what people think I sound like?

And as for Dilly...lets not even go there.

you sound like a irish guy with some sorta chip on his shoulder. that's what I get at least

Afraid I fool a lot of people on that. Nothing but plain vanilla great lakes region accent here.

And as for the chip...?

My accent sounds kind a like "mmmfffmmmdmfffmm." I'm working on it, though.

I think you've got a bit of a twang.

Try pulling yourself out of that pussy before you speak PV.

Anything to help. :)

Not so sure about that. Have seen a few big ones in my day. Loved them just the same, mind you.

Accents are a matter of perspective,

The sales manager at one of my old jobs was British, and though he'd been in America longer than he'd been in the UK, he still had most of his accent, though he'd adopted our slang.

He had quite a sense of humor, so we'd always joke around and get into huge arguments about nothing. Accents were a common topic.

So one day he was making fun of my "Accent" and I told him, "I'm in Northern CA, and I have been since I was 2. I sound like a Northern Californian...YOU on the other hand are in the same place, yet have a British accent, YOU have the accent!"

He replied with "Yes, BUT YOU are an AMERICAN, speaking ENGLISH...I am ENGLISH, speaking ENGLISH, so YOU have the accent!"

He won that round!

Everybody has an accent. I myself have a Midwest accent, though most people would say I speak without one.

mine sounds differetn to different people. despit being rased in northern Va, I have speech patterns that resenble those of a new englander as a result of a prolonged stay in connecticut. I have also been blessed with the chance to learn spanish and since I have studied it for so long, I have started to think in spanisha nd english thus my speech is sometimes a combination. everyone who is going to the getotgether will know.

Funny story

When I was in College, I went to a school 4 hours north of where I grew up. Same NorCal accent and slang. I used to spend a few weeks up there every summer working as a freshman orientation counselor.

But since about 70% of the student body was up from Southern CA, there were HUNDREDS of kids fresh from SoCal, where they tend to upspeak a lot more than us in NorCal.

So every time I'd head north I'd come back with a SoCal accent for a few days.
