"We hereby uphold the judgment of the (lower) Bakori court that decreed that you be sentenced to death by stoning," the president of the Funtua appeal court told the woman, Amina Lawal 30, on Monday Aug 19, 2002.
The sentence was passed on Amina in March 2002 for having a child outside marriage. The judge ruled that 30-year-old Amina Lawal will be executed once she has weaned her eight-month-old daughter. The Funtua court granted defence lawyers 30 days to appeal, which they have said they will do.
Attached is the link to the Amnesty International site of which on the right hand side there is a letter to the Nigerian president that you can sign. She has 30 days to appeal against her sentence. It literally takes less than one minute.
