So, in an analogy sense, she was excommunicated by a race of people by not being a percieved sterotype?

Wow

I find this odd, because didn't she just support race being a factor in the admission process the other day?

This country is heading for another

Civil War.......

Over the same issue......

Only folks like Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are allowed to represent us because everyone knows we all speak in rhymes and have relaxers in our hair!

(My Sharpton zingers seem to be never ending! :D )

________

So Todd, you mean, there may be political motivations from the DNC that may preclude a representative from a Republican administration representative from speaking.

*Gasp*

from CNN

it is appropriate to use race as one factor among others in achieving a diverse student body," Rice said.

one factor not the factor based on factor quotas

Condoleezza Rice is pro-affirmative action. So... it would seem that you need to get your facts straight. And, it has nothing to do with her getting preferential treatment. Condoleezza Rice was at the top of every class that she ever took. It's funny that White males cry about quotas so much, when you are the group that has benefited most from the quota system. That quota being all White, all the time. Then in an even more ironic turn of events, when race isn't considered as a criteria for admissions to Universities, as in post prop. 209 California, you people bitch and moan about Asians taking "your" seats in Universities.

How is that full of shit? Are you saying that White males haven't benefited from the hundreds of years in which virtually every job, political office and school had 100% White (mostly White male) quotas? Kennedy had to federalize the National guard on two seperate occasions in order to break the 100% White quotas of state Universities in Mississippi and Alabama. Johnson, even after signing the voting rights act, had to send federal troups to Mississippi, to break the 100% White quota on who was allowed to vote, after three people working to register Black voters were murdered by the police and the KKK.

You, Miles, and people like you are the enemies of democracy and liberty. You don't want the playing field evened out, because you don't believe in those ideals to begin with.

How so?

Edit - Interestingly, enough, CNN is talking about this right now.

I think the problem is, her outlook on life as a whole is not even comparable to black america. I don't watch the news on tv any more-not unless someone emails me with a special program or something, so I don't pay attention much to race-as I read the text and keep far away from pictures. I'm not a fan of Rice. I'm not a fan of Bush. I'm not a fan of quotas, but in the issue of UM, they operate admissions on a point system. If I'm not mistaken, you need 120 points to gain admission, and being of ethnic heritage carries a certain number of points, your grades, your reccomendations, extra-curriculars, essay, SAT/ACTs and such all carry points. The only way that you could alter that system is to negate the use of race in admissions altogether. I dislike that idea. I know people who have cheated their way through high school, and go to Ivy League schools, I know people who worked their asses off and did poorly-people who contributed more to the academic environment in one class discussion than the cheaters did and I know those who did really well in HS, who haven't a single unique thought in their head and told teachers exactly what they want to hear. Give me a poor performing free thinker anyday.

Did you just analogize free thinking and integrity as minority traits?

The UM system gives an insane weight to race, so much so that students of similar merit look totally different if of a different skin color.

I don;t mind Rice speeking out on this issue, but its weird the way she has presented herself. We have the head of the NSA, former provost of Stanford, waffling on affirmative action to suit her Presidents needs. Its like bizarro land if you ask me.
