STRONG!!! How boring life would be if we all held the same beliefs. Choice is where its at. The right to choose to be kind or not; the right to agree or disagree; (the right to use semi-colons incorrectly); the right to speak or remain silent; the right to be critical or complimentary. And on and on. Aren't we fortunate?
If you listen to someone talk about the practice of Law and how it has changed over the past 35 years, you will hear that it has become more cut throat, less civil, more bottom line and less public spirited. Sound familiar? The "young" lawyers are said to be interested only in aggressively stirring up trouble and attacking the opposition. The "old" lawyers are said to be falling behind the times, in attitude and aptitude. Also sound familiar?
It is my opinion that what we have here is nothing more than a micrcosm of what we have everywhere else in our lives, assuming that you live in a "free" country. It just seems more obvious here because it is so in our faces for us to see. That is the power of the written word!
I believe that our differences are what make us interesting. What would life be like if all we had was vanilla ice cream, not that there's anything wrong with vanilla. I just couldn't take a steady diet of it.
The only thing that I ever really take exception to is when someone intentionally sets out to hurt another
person or their feelings. I find that
inappropriate, under any circumstances. Like someone wiser than me once said, "Follow the Golden Rule". Do that and you can't miss.
(I'm exhausted ,since I had to type this with 2 fingers. It was important to me so I did it.)
