Dispatch Columnist Calls for an End to Military Funeral Honors

"Everybody knows government needs to cut costs,” he writes. “This is exactly how you do it. You identify things you don’t need, and you cut them. Maybe they’re nice things, but if you don’t need them, you cut them."

Pretty much...now the question is, what else is he willing to cut? Ready to strip this bitch down to infrastructure, emergency services and international/state trade/commerce? Because honestly that is all we reallyNeed. Even that is questionable.... It's such a broad term.

They already cut back the border patrol, it is open four hours a day now in places with no one to stop the illegals.

The way to cut costs in "Defence" is to stop attacking people and to stop paying "scientists" to develop more and more amazing ways to murder people on a mass scale.

Simple really.

If you are going to send people to their possible deaths (albeit people who should know better than to fight for western imperialism), the least you can do is give them respect when they return.

But that would mean all those workers in the defense industry getting laid off and all those poor, long suffering stockholders suffering a decrease in their ROI.

Can't have that.

If you got the balls or v-ja-ja to serve not knowing what may happen to our country, at pay that I am sure is not the best it could be, at least they should bury you and thank you. Thank you veterans.

Defense spending is one area of government spending proven to generate more than it costs.

Using defense assets in war is the money loser - developing and building them is not.
