got it and going for it

Sharingfantasies has consented to join me in a four post romp through the pages of 'America' Our story will begin this afternoon and will be tittled "The perfect marriage' Sounds vanilla doesn't it? Maybe you should check it out, after all this is a SRP. ;) Question for the maid. Should one say an SRP since the phonetic spelling of the letter S is ES?

Have several things in various stages of work, some that have been started, some that are beginning, CD and I are still at the "hmm what shall we write about stage" :).

So you see

Sometimes slow and easy comes in first. Remember the turtle and the rabbit?

no! no! not the whip!

Sharing fantasies has written such a lovely post, and I have a equally touching one planned, it would be a shame if we can't finish this. Please Mr. Chris and Ms. Maid, extend the deadline just a wee bit

It was my fault. I am on vacation and sort of lost track of days and time. I know the last post was a LITTLE long but it is what it is... and I deleted a lot!! And you know I have to write a happy ending. LOL

So get your popcorn ready. I hope reading it is as enjoyable as writing it. :)

Great stuff guys! Thank you for finishing it and I'm sure you both enjoyed it.

Well, who's next?

Now. All of you guys out there who have dropped in wondering what this is about...scroll to Maid's message and she gives the format.

If you want to find the main thread - well, that's easy for you Litsters...you don't need a link. Do you?

Glad you enjoyed it. :)

A link is always nice to have since the only way to get to the story thread is to go back to the first post in this thread and find the link there. Is there a way to get a thread into one's subscribed threads without having first posted to that thread? If so I would love to know the trick as there are a couple of threads I read but I always have to search for them which is a pain.

Writing with Slow is always fun. I look forward to seeing what CD and I can put together. :D

go to the thread you want to subscribe to, then click on thread tools, pick subscribe to thread and bingo you have it.

While we're at it, does anyone know how to change the Lit skin - and I have some other computer issues that I need help with also. Oh, and a graphics program? Any recommendations? How bout fave word programs? Does everyone use Works or Word or are there others out there?

I know you can change the skins at User CP, you have to scroll down a ways on the page. I know there are some word processing programs besides works and word that are freeware and shareware and super simple but you'd have to google for them. I don't like programs that try to tell me what I want to do rather than doing what I tell them to do, but because of work I have to have Word. On my last computer I had Works but it wouldn't open Word programs so I had to download Word Reader, and with the reader I couldn't make any changes to the document, so it was a hassle. For this computer I bought Word.

It is getting to the point where computers come without any programs and can't do much unless you buy all sorts of programs or spend hours downloading from the net. When I got this computer it came with a temporary word processing program that wouldn't let me print my document, no online service so that I could at least get to the net to download a service, and no modem. And of course the new Operating System didn't much like any program I already had. So I had a computer on which I couldn't type a document, couldn't access the internet, couldn't access a service, and couldn't use any programs I had. And still cost a lot of money. I called back the company that sold it to me and let them know about the modem so they could tell other customers. Of course they didn't carry the right modem so I had to wait a couple of more days for the right one to come by mail. It took me almost a week to be able to use the computer. Of course the place that had the modem didn't sell Word so I had to order it separately and wait for it to come...sheesh. I would rather pay a couple of hundred more at the time of purchase and have the computer be able to work right away, rather than pay three hundred + dollars more and have to wait a week to make it usable.

Yeah, it's the pits.

Speaking of pits... did you hear about the collapsed mine in Utah? Six coal miners were trapped inside a shaft that collapsed with such force that seismologists thought it was an earthquake - and I think they're still arguing the point. 1,500 feet below ground and nearly three miles from the mine’s entrance. :(

And the subways in NYC were flooded by thunderstorms during the night. No one hurt, just delays... and the all the airports there had delays and cancellations, too. It must have happened before, but I don't remember ever hearing it when I lived on the east coast.

The miners' recovery is really difficult since they are so far down. I don't know how miners do it. I couldn't walk into a shallow cave.

I always wondered if the rain water flooded the subways. I know that in several places there is river water beneath the subways and of course I would assume rain would run down the steps to the subway so I am surprised it doesn't happen more often. I wouldn't want to get on the subway any more than I would want to go into a mine. And the worst would be going in a subway under a waterway like the Bart does from San Franciso to Oakland and I am sure the NY subway does similar things. Then of course there is electricity involved, not something I want near water. I like my feet on the flat surface of the earth and sky over my head, but not if it means I am on a cliff. :)

I'll offer that a decent word processing program, or at least a decent copy of Word, is Abiword. Feel free to search for it, but Star Trek fans can find a link at Azeri Fleet.
