Dionysus

Moon traveled through the country side upon her Frost Saber mount as swift as the wind. The large cat growled in warning, as a Fanged Wolf attempted to catch her and her accompanying shadow panther. She was headed to Dionysus, the place of her birth.

The mystical lands flooded memories of her childhood. Her sister, Trist, would be waiting for her. She was about to embark on a great...well a great something. What that something would be, who knows.

Arriving in her home town, she entered up the south side, and the streets were littered with thousands of people. Many folks she hadn't seen in years. She wondered if some of her old loves were still here.....what was happening here anyway, some sort of celebration she was unaware of?

Kain, the Dragon Knight of Dionysus, was the Guardian of the Realm. As such, he was the bouncer for the party, the Great Festival, and he recognized the beautiful Moon and her stalwart companion, and rejoiced, for it had been many years since he had seen her last.

"Moon has returned!" he cried out, rushing towards her. "Welcome! You are just in time for the Great Feast! Look at who else has been anticipating your return!"

A great crowd was assembled for the annual Dionysus Festival. Wine flowed, livestock was slaughtered, cooked, and devoured. All the while Kain stayed in the shadows, watching the proceedings, keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. His mind strayed where chivalry dare not go: memories of he and Moon, their intense, short romance, his forever lost virginity...

He steeled himself to his duty, as the party continued on. The music was about to start!

"Moon!" Trist ran the short distance seperating her from her sister. She couldn't believe she had actually fallen asleep while waiting. If Kain hadn't cried out, Moon would have ridden right past her where she lay waiting in the back of the hay wagon. She had been too embarrassed to go to the Great Feastival alone....dressed like this. After all, she was barely past the age of majority and this would be her first awakening. She was thrilled her favorite sister Moon would be here to sponser her.

Homecoming

"Kain!" Moon shouted with glee as she slide off her great mount. "It is so good to see you!"

Shadow (the black panther) slinked up to inspect this intruder. With one wave of Moon's hand, Shadow backs down with obedience.

"Moon!" Comes a familiar voice. Moon turns and sees her baby sister darting toward her.

"Trist!" Moon throws her arms around her. "Let me look at you! You have gotten so big since the last I saw you!"

Turning back to Kain, with Trist in tow she exclaims, "and look at you! My my, you've become a Dragon Knight! Congradulations!"

Moon wonders whether he's ever gotten attached. Highly unlikely, knowing the discipline and time required to achieve such a high rank.

"And I'd completely forgotten about the Annual Festival! What a wonderful thing to come home to!"

Trist hesitated a moment, wondering if she should leave Moon and Kain alone to say hello. But no. Moon was to be her sponser. She needed to watch every little action if she were to learn the proper way to behave as a woman. Trist smiled. Knowing how many men in the village pined away when Moon left home, she knew she had the best possible mentor and intended to learn as much as she could.

Kain was amazed by Moon and her sister Trist. In the time she had been away, she had grown into a powerful woman. He could sense the gravity of positive magical energy centered around her. They were both incredibly beautiful. "Please, Moon and Trist, allow me to escort you into the celebration." He summoned his ceremonial steed, a young wyrmling, no larger than Moon's Shadow, and mounted in an easy leap. Beyond him, down Dionysus's main road, a great mass of people was gathered for the Festival.

Trist was so excited about the Festival, but she was also still so shy. This cerimonial gown left little to the imagination. She was grateful that she had always worn her hair long. Self conciously, she pulled it in front of her shoulder. It fell below her waist, covering the sheer material of the Awakening gown. She stood there fiddling with it.......if it lay here....the right nipple showed....but there, the pubis........

Trist looked up. if she didnt decide soon, Moon and Kain would be gone.

Trist

Moon sensed Trist's hesitation, and remembered it quite well. She didn't have an older sister to sponser her, and had to rely on olders girls.

"I have something special for you, Trist." Moon simply stated. She grabbed one of her backpacks, and fumbled with the latches, mumbling something about needing to fix that latch someday. From inside she pulled out a full length cloak adorned with silver and gold. Being of elven craftmanship, it was extremely light and glittered in a multicolors. "Put this on, and you will feel much better. The colors will change according to what colors you wish to wear."

Kain eyed the cloak that Moon handed to Trist. He had never seen such an incredible garment. This only confirmed his suspicions about Moon's power. Only Dionysus' Sages and Oracles had similar magical energies flowing about them. Kain's training with his Dragon had taught him much, including developing his sixth sense for detecting magic. And in Dionysus, where reality often seemed illusory, this ability was what made him a true force to be reckoned with. After all, he commanded a certain magic of his own...

He patiently gave the women time for their reunion, his eyes and ears scanning their perimeter. Nothing seemed afoot. Moon's Panther was sitting obediently next to her partner. The sisters looked so happy to see each other!

Trist was so relieved. Leave it to Moon to think of everything! And what a beautiful cloak! She twirled her body, feeling the light elven material swirl about her as the colors shifted form orange to red to yellow. Yes, she was truly happy. The colors of autumn always surrounded her when she was at her best.

Watching the colors swirl about Trist was enough to make a man lose his mind, and the way the fabric fit her so naturally...

He gently pat his wyrmling's neck as it and the panther sniffed each other. Certainly, both of these women would be beating the men away with sticks as soon as they got to the Festival.

Trist & Kain

Moon looked lovingly at her little sister in the cloak. Autumn colors looked so natural on her, and her long flowing hair only accentuated it.

"Well, Kain, I believe we are ready to be escorted to the Festival now!" Moon beamed proudly.

"And yes, that is a magic elven cloak" she whispered in Kain's ear. "I had it crafted especially for my sister by a very dear friend."

Moon then took Trist arm in one and Kains with the other, and off the three of them went.

Trist raised her head as the three of them entered the fest. She couldnt help feeling a bit eager to see how the other girls reacted when she arrived not only with her sister Moon as a sponser, but escorted by Kain, a real Dragon Knight. She wondered if they could convince him to participate in the awakening.....but no, that was just a child's fantasy, and she was a woman now. Why would a Dragon Knight be interested in an Awakening Ceremony? But a dance wasn't beyond imagination, afterall, he was a friend of Moons.

Kain gladly accepted the lady's arm and they walked together into the city. They passed shops and vendors, smelled incredible foods and incenses, saw amazing wares and weapons, before they entered the town square, which was rung by a series of tall tents, and in the middle were hundreds of tables and thousands of people, feasting.

A powerful horn blew at Kain's signal, the music stopped, the crowd was silent, and all eyes fell upon the two beautiful women.

"Dionysus! Behold your favored daughters! The Princess-Warrior has returned!"

With all eyes upon her, Moon bowed graciously before them.

"Behold before ye, Trist of Dionysus, has come of age! May her awakening begin with festivities! Remember the Goddess Baubo, and rejoice in the awakening of the sacred sexuality!"

Moon then turned and motioned to Trist. The crowd cheered in glee, as they surrounded her. There were ooohs and ahhhs at her beautiful autumn cloak.

Many familiar faces indeed. Moon smiled at Trist, as the crowd began to drift, many having congratulated her and invited to have a toast with her later. The music began again, and many began dancing again.

Trist blushed as all eyes turned on her. Then she noticed the other girls of her group, who would also be sharing the ceremony, staring and whispering, and she stood up straight. They had been taunting her and excluding her all year. Why shouldn't she use her association with Moon to her advantage? She began to sway with the music, wanting to dance. She scanned the crowd for a suitable partner, thinking this would be a good time to let Moon and Kain have some time alone.

"Ye will be standing on your own two feet soon enough, Trist. Don't be shy to enjoy a little notoriety on my tails! Enjoy! Ye deserve the best in this world, and I'm happy to share my keep!"

Moon smiled as Trist seem to accept that remark. As Trist relaxed and began scanning the crowd, Moon turned to Kain.

"So, pray tell, O Dragon Knight of Dionysus, and Guardian of the Realm, please share with me your adventures of the past few years..."

"So, pray tell, O Dragon Knight of Dionysus, and Guardian of the Realm, please share with me your adventures of the past few years..." Moon asked of him. He looked at her, smiled softly before he began his tale.

"When you left, Moon, I was but a mere squire in Dionysus' service. A few months after you left, it was raiding season again: the orcs and goblins and ogres were hungry for human flesh, and had begun pillaging Dionysus' outlying villages. I was sent to the front lines, the town of Mareth. The captain of our phalanx was a fool, and we marched right into the town -- and right into a trap. There were few survivors standing when all the bodies had fallen in the town square, and I was lucky to be one of them. The orcs were routed, but not for long. With but a few soldiers and the remaining hardy men and women of Mareth, we held the town for two months, through the rest of the raiding season. We even conducted a few raids ourselves.

"That winter, our good King Diolyn offered me the chance of a lifetime; he sent me on a mission to recover the stolen Jewels of Dionysus. They had been stolen in an goblin raid, along with some other artifacts and magical weapons. I tracked my way to the goblin camp, slew many of the fell humanoids, before discovering that the Jewels had been scattered by so many feuding tribal chieftains.

"I spent the next two years travelling the countryside, hunting orcs and gnolls and searching for clues, and slowly, piece by piece, recovered the missing Jewels. The Amber Jewel had been taken deep within Mount Tamalpin; the Onyx Jewel was guarded by a black dragon on the peaks of the Razr Highlands; the Crystal Jewel was hidden in the bowels of the ancient, fallen Temple of Life.

"It is only recently that I have returned to our fair city, our Dionysus, the lost Jewels recovered. The King was gracious enough to knight me; I am a dragon-knight by virtue of this blade," he patted the thick longsword hanging from his side, and Moon noticed the intricate details of the blade's hilt: unmistakably, the long-lost Dragonsbane. "Since then, my duties protecting our city have kept me busier than any man in town, save our fair King, of course. But now that I have bored you with my tale, certainly you can regale us with just what you have been up to these past few years. You have clearly grown; you are not the same girl who left here years ago."

Trist wandered off amonst the food and drink venders when she saw that Moon and Kain were going to talk of old times. She knew how to tell stories...she didn't need to watch Moon to learn that. The Awakening Ceremony wasn't until tomorrow, and she intended to enjoy tonight, not worry about it. She looked around, certain she could find someone to dance with her........

Moon smiled at Kain.

“So it was ye I heard tale of during my journeys. Whilst ye were playing with the Orcs and Goblins, I had a bit of a time with a race called the Tauren. Ye may have heard of their migration across the Great Sea of Rhiamn, and then the of Dunes of Duritare. They came in droves, like mad cows, destroying everything in sight. Intelligent as they are, they allied with the evil Drow and became quite a nuisance.

First the village of Toluare, became infested with the like, and drove off all the towns people. Then the Dwarven city of Elkwood was invaded by large band of Drow and Tauren. King Maldor, the Dwarf King sent legions of soldiers to aid us by then, and the allied forces were driven back, and forever banned from our shores.

Not before I saw many innocents die. There was a small band of undead that came in on the tails of the Tauren and Drow, and they had a taste for human and elven flesh. Lucky for the dwarves, as they left their kind alone. So we did not have their aid in search to destroy these evil and vile creatures.

These undead did not stay in groups of more than 3 or 4, so they were more difficult to track. My tracking abilities were not developed enough at first, so the first year was slow and tedious. As I learned the faint yet distinguished tell-tell signs of undead presence, our pace quickened. I believe we were successful enough to root out the final stronghold they had managed to establish just a mere week ago.

During our time scouring the country sides, we did manage to uncover a treasure or two. Nothing as magnificent as the Jewels of Dionysus you mention, but treasures none-the-less. It is during these travels too, that I picked up that cloak for Trist. I had it appraised, and it is worth a bit of gold. The best part of the cloak, is it is now soul bound to Trist, and not a soul can take it from her. Besides it's beauty, and ability to change colors at the whim of it’s wearer, it also protects her as well as if she were wearing mail armor.

Then I had to ride hard and fast to arrive in time for my baby sisters awakening ceremony. It sure feels good to be home."

Moon watched Trist out of the corner of her eye, and saw that wander lust she knew so well. Soon, Trist, soon, Moon thought.

"You have had quite the adventure, Moon. Tell me, are there still drow raiding, even as we speak? And the undead? Moon, allow me to join you and give Dionysus' aid to our friends."

He followed Moon's gaze to her sister, Trist. "She is quite beautiful. Do you think she is ready to join you out there?"

"Aye, I'm sure they Drow is still ravaging here and there, but not so much on our continent. Tanaria is infested with them o'er the Great Sea. As for the undead, I do plan on returning when I'm through here, just to make sure there are no more remaining on our shores."

He followed Moon's gaze to her sister, Trist. "She is quite beautiful. Do you think she is ready to join you out there?"

"That she is, Kain, quite beautiful. I'm sure her taste of wonderlust has bitten her quite hard, is she's anything like I was at her age."
