She was a curvy young girl who had moved to the small town for college. The fall was brutal, nothing to do. The leaves were falling and she could hear the chirping of the birds but that was as exciting as the scenery was. She recently got a job at a little diner. The regular customers were always nice to her but the middle of nowhere vibe wasn't her thing. She was a bit on the nerdy side. She wore black rimmed glasses that were sometimes too loose, so she'd have to push them up. Her hips were slightly curvy and she had a nice chest. She worked and studied and didn't have much time for guys. Not like guys were interested in her anywhere.

A regular customer came in every single day around 9am. He was always wearing a suit and she noticed he had a wedding ring on. He always smiled at her and she smiled back. She approached his table. "Your usual? Coffee and muffin?" She asked. She was almost intimidated by him; he was good looking and the way he smiled at her made her feel good about herself. He probably took pity on her but the way he smiled at her made her feel pretty...for once.

ooc: I started this awhile ago but it died out. Looking to start it up again. Looking for some flirting, sexual tension...not right into sex. Send me a PM if interested. Send me a sample PM if you're interested!

She couldn't stand this town. She wished she would have moved away right after high school all those years ago. This town was too cliquey. The university where she studied didn't challenge her enough and they were full of jocks. She was only 22 but she was wise. She liked to think she grew up much faster than all those other kids around her age.

She waitressed at this cute little diner to help pay the bills and such. And it gave her something to do when she wasn't having classes. This guy who came in almost every day, at almost the same time, was quite friendly. Some of the other men who came in could be such assholes if their coffee wasn't ready the moment they walked in.

As she walked away from delivering his coffee and muffin, she pushed up her glasses and proceeded to wipe down some tables. She hoped someday she'd leave this god forsaken town and never return but for now she was stuck at this diner in a town that left much to be desired.

Some days were doomed from the minute people woke up, she was having one of those days today. She would have preferably liked to be curled up in her apartment but obviously that wasn't happening today. She thought about the guy who came in, ordered the same thing every day. Just because she was in a bad mood didn't mean she had to be hostile to everyone.

She went to the back, grabbed a fresh pot of coffee and began making her way around the diner, filling up the coffee of people who wanted it. Most people wanted it though. Who didn't want coffee on a workday morning?

"More coffee?" She asked as she approached his table.

"Um, hi," he smiled at her. "Yeah, sure, thank you,...." He realized he didn't even know her name. She never wore a nametag. She had probably introduced herself the first few times he had been in, but now it slipped his mind. He watched as she poured his coffee.

"You know, I'm afraid to admit it, but I seem to have forgotten your name, honey." He tried to sound casual. "You've always taken such good care of me since I started coming in, and I appreciate it," he continued. He looked in her eyes. "You seem to be a little down today. Rough morning?" He tried to sound sympathetic. He smiled at her again as she stood back up. "By the way, my name's Mark," he offered.

She had to be sure he was talking to her. Most people just ignored her because she wasn't exactly stunningly beautiful. She was smart but most guys weren't interested in her brains. So all in all, she wasn't used to people conversating with her. But this guy was always friendly to her and after being up at such an ungodly hour this morning, it was nice to at least see a friendly face.

She usually hated when guys called her honey, sweetheart, love or any of those pet names. But for some reason she didn't mind today. "Oh yes, Mark...right." She said. "I'm really bad with names." She said with kind of a soft smile. "I'm Erika by the way." She said. She didn't know why he cared to know who she was but it was nice.

"You know those days you wake up and you know it's going to be a shit show. Today's one of those days." She laughed a little.

She laughed a little. She had a cute little laugh, he thought. He looked her up and down as if for the first time, as he contemplated her reply. She really was kind of attractive, he thought, even with her nerdy look. Ditch the glasses and dress a little sexier, and she would probably attract some serious attention. There was a faint stirring in his loins as he studied her, although he didn't really notice. He was happily married.

"So, Erika," he repeated her name. "I think days are only shitty if you think they're going to be shitty," he replied. He didn't usually use bad language but he took his cue from her. "You're a nice-looking young girl, I bet you have a lot going for you. You just have to look at the bright side. Kind of like the way I look at my coffee cup. I don't think about it being almost empty. I think about how some cute waitress will be filling it up for me soon. And that gives me something to look forward to. You just have to think that maybe something good will happen today. Maybe you'll meet the man of your dreams. Who knows?" He smiled at her and gave her a little wink.

She saw him wink at her and she knew it was innocent but it was nice. It was nice having someone to talk to, given that most people ignored her. She brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ear. "Oh yes, nice looking young girl. I get that a lot. Usually that comes right before a guy tells me I'm not sexy enough." She laughed a little sadly. She was always the friend, never THE girl. She wasn't pretty enough for that.

"Oh yes, the man of my dreams to whisk me away." She laughed because it would never happen. She just wasn't the type of girl most men likes. She had a nice figure, a little curvier than most. And sure she had the nerdy look but she always liked that about her. It made her unique in her eyes but to most guys, it made her a nerd.

Mark felt a little sorry that she didn't take his words in the kind way he meant them. He didn't know how to make her understand that he really thought she was cute and appealing without making them both uncomfortable. And besides, did he really want to go there? He was happily married.

He looked at his watch. Oh my god, he was late. He was never late. He had a routine. He loved routine. He got discombobulated when his routine got disturbed.

"Um, Erika, I'm sorry, but I'm actually running late. What do I owe you?" He fumbled for his wallet and pulled out a 20. "Here, keep the change," he almost mumbled as he got up quickly. He put his hand on the back of her shoulder as he got up. He never did anything like that. He was happily married. "I hope your day gets better, Erika. See you tomorrow, I hope." And he rushed out the door.

She felt his strong hand on the back of her shoulder. And she could have sworn that she felt a shiver run down her spine. Which was so weird because he was much older than she was. Well, not really..maybe 10 years or so. So it wasn't technically that much older. But more importantly he was married. He probably had some knock out wife at home. So there was no way he would ever be interested in some plain waitress.

He told her to keep the change. "Thanks Mark." She said as she watched him dart off. "See you tomorrow." She said quietly as she watched him go. Throughout the rest of her day, she thought about him and she couldn't shake why. She was pretty sure he wasn't thinking about her.

She finished the rest of her day and headed home. The next morning came and she felt better than how she did yesterday morning. She decided to try something a little different. She straightened her hair instead of just pulling it back into a messy bun.

She saw Mark walk in. She had come to realize that he was turning into a bright spot in her day. "Usual?" She smiled gently. He always got the same thing. She put down his muffin and filled up his coffee.

Mark was only a little late for work, and quickly recovered from the blip in his routine. He got buried in his work and didn’t really have much time to think of anything else. But when he did pause for a moment, somehow his mind kept going back to the waitress Erika. What was it about her? She was kind of attractive, sure, but there were a lot of attractive women out there. She was young, like in her early 20s probably, 20 years younger than him. But what did it matter? There wasn’t anything going on between him and her. He was happily married.

The rest of his day was routine. He finished work, went home, had dinner, kissed his wife goodnight. They didn’t have sex, they only did that on their Friday night “date nights,” sometimes on Saturdays and almost always Sunday morning. Their sex life was satisfying enough. He was happily married.

The next morning he walked into the diner and sat down and Erika was almost immediately there with his coffee and muffin. She gave him a nice smile and he noticed she seemed happier this morning than yesterday. Maybe his little cheer me up talk had helped? But something else about her was different this morning too. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but something about her made her look more attractive this morning.

“Good morning, Erika,” he smiled back at her. “If I didn’t know better, I would think you were watching for me.” He gave her a little wink. “So how are you this morning? Feeling better today?” He briefly laid his hand on the back of her hand as she set down his muffin.

"Don't flatter yourself too much there." She teased him with a smile. Truthfully, she did feel better than yesterday. His talk did help but she wasn't about to let him onto that. She knew the ego of most men went straight to their head. She figured Mark wasn't like that but she wasn't going to chance it. She smiled when he put his hand over hers. She swore she felt a spark of sorts. But there couldn't possibly be a spark. He was a married man, probably happily so, and Erika knew she was quite plain.

"Actually yes. It's a miracle what an extra few hours of sleep and some wine will do the body." She smiled a little bit. She had straightened out hair this morning and that made her feel more attractive even if others didn't.

"I hope you didn't get into too much trouble at work yesterday for running late."

When his hand touched Erika’s he thought for a moment he got a little static electricity shock. He definitely felt something, he wasn’t sure what it was.

“Yes, that’s true,” he smiled. “A little wine can make a lot of things better.” He winked at her again. He didn’t know why he kept winking at her. He was happily married. “I sometimes have a beer or two in the evening to help me relax. In your case, I definitely think it did your body good.” He smiled as he looked her up and down and again found himself thinking that she was quite attractive. Nice figure, not a skinny rail like so many young girls these days.

“No, I didn’t get in trouble for being late, they’re pretty laid back where I work. As long as you’re doing your job, they don’t pick about the little things. In any case, I’m sure they would have understood if I told them I was spending a few extra minutes with a pretty young woman.” He smiled and winked again. What was wrong with him? Was he flirting with this girl twenty years younger than him? Why would he do that? He was happily married. “You look nice today, Erika. Have you done something different with your hair? It looks good.”

Erika couldn't help but notice him winking at her. While it was probably innocent in nature, it made her feel more attractive than normal. She knew he meant nothing by it, some men were just flirtatious by nature. She figured Mark was just like that with everyone but somehow she didn't mind.

She couldn't help but notice when he called her pretty. Again, she knew he was probably only saying it to be nice but she appreciated it. She found herself blushing a little bit. She couldn't figure it out but by the way Mark spoke with her, looked at her, it made her feel attractive.

She bit her lip softly as he told her she looked nice. She pushed a lose strand of hair away from face, tucking it behind her ear. "Thanks..." She said softly. She was used to any man paying attention to her, let alone a nice guy like Mark. "I...um, just straightened it this morning." She said. She found herself staring at him longer than normal. She snapped herself out of it. What the hell was her problem? He was married and even if he wasn't, there was no way he would ever be interested in the likes of her.

Mark noticed when she blushed and it made him notice her even more carefully. She did have nice features and the blushing sort of brought them out. “You don’t have to be embarrassed, Erika. I wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t true. You really are quite pretty.” Slowly he began to realize a stirring in his pants, something that hadn’t happened for him in a long time. Was his interest in this young woman more than just platonic? How could that be? He was happily married.

He pulled his eyes away from her and glanced down at his watch. “Oh my gosh, look at the time again!” he exclaimed. “Don’t want to be late to work two days in a row. Sorry, but I really have to go, Erika.” He stood up, then had another thought. “How late do you work here?” he asked. Then he realized that might have implications. “Um, I mean, are you still here at lunchtime? Maybe I could come here for lunch one day. It’s not that far.” He found himself standing close to her and looking into her eyes as he waited for her answer.

"Thank you...." She said softly. She found herself staring at him. For a man who was about 20 years older than she was, he was certainly attractive. What was her problem? He was married, probably to someone smoking hot, and even if he wasn't, there was no way he would be attracted to someone as plain as she was.

She found herself wishing he didn't have to go but she knew it was for the best. She had to get her thoughts together. This was a married man yet she found herself getting all flustered around him.

He was standing close to her and with him being so close, she could smell his cologne. It suddenly felt hotter in this little diner. "Yeah...I'm still here at lunch time."She said. "I'd like that." She found herself smiling and then realized how it sounded. "I mean, it's always nice to see you." Fuck. She was digging herself into a deeper hole the more she talked.

Unlike yesterday, Mark had trouble concentrating on his work. Something had happened at the diner that he couldn’t quite put his finger on. Now he couldn’t get Erika out of his mind. When he had stood up so close to her, he could smell the fragrance from her hair and feel like some kind of an undercurrent going on between their bodies. He was starting to feel attracted to her, wasn’t he? Even if he was happily married.

Happily married. He thought about his marriage, his wife. Sure they were happy, weren’t they? They never fought or argued. They had a nice home and a comfortable life. They had sex two, sometimes three times a week. But it really wasn’t very exciting any more, was it? He felt a tinge of excitement when he talked to Erika, when he looked at her. He was starting to wonder what it would be like to be with her. She had such nice curves, unlike his wife with her A tits and flat butt. He tried to picture Erika’s boobs, they looked to be good-sized, something you could hold on to, something you could get your mouth around. It had been years since he had been with a woman like that, before he got married. But who was he kidding? She was just in her twenties. She wouldn’t be interested in some older guy like himself. Surely she had plenty of guys her own age that were eager to go out with her, even have sex with her. Why would she be interested in some old married guy?

Almost like he was a stranger watching from outside, he found himself getting up at lunchtime, putting on his jacket and in his car heading for the diner. When he had said “someday” he didn’t necessarily mean today, did he? But there he was. He opened the door to the diner and hesitated as he stepped inside. He looked around, like he didn’t know what to do. Where was Erika?

The rest of her morning Erika was distracted. She couldn't get Mark out of her head. She thought about this morning when they were standing so close. She could smell his cologne and it was sexy. She thought about the spark that ran through her body when he touched her hand. What was wrong with her? He was married, probably happily so, and even if he wasn't she was pretty certain she wasn't his type. She thought about how good looking he was. If she had to guess, Mark was in his late thirties or early forties but you couldn't tell that just by looking at him. And the way he winked at her, it made her feel attractive. She figured he only flirted because it was in his nature but she liked the way he looked at her. She had to get him out of her head.

Lunch time came and Erika was in the back, enjoying the quiet before demanding customers of the lunch hour came. One of her fellow waitresses came to the back and said "That regular who comes in every morning is here." Erika felt her heart race. Mark was out there. She knew he had said he'd stop by sometime for lunch but she didn't think today. She went to the bathroom and tidied up her hair. She wasn't a big makeup person but for some reason she put a little bit of makeup on. She didn't paint her face like some women her age did. Was she trying to impress Mark? God, what was her problem. She took a deep breath before heading towards his table.

"Hey..." She smiled when she approached his table. "I didn't think you'd be back today. I didn't bore you enough this morning." She joked but it was true. She wasn't the most exciting or the most pretty. Hell, she wasn't the most anything.

"Well, things were pretty boring at work this morning, so I figured I'd change things up a little," Mark smiled at her, trying to be calm. But he was completely out of his routine and he felt a nervous excitement that he tried to hide. "Actually, I couldn't wait to see you again, Erika," he winked at her, then suddenly felt sheepish for saying that. "I mean, you're a really good waitress..." he kind of trailed off, afraid he was making a fool of himself.

He turned his attention to the menu to avoid further embarrassment. "So what do you recommend?" he asked without looking up at her. "I haven't eaten lunch here before. I think I could go for a nice juicy piece of meat." He looked back up at her, then realized what he had said. God, why was he making such a fool of himself, like a clumsy teenager? She was probably laughing at him when she went back to the kitchen. He didn't want her to laugh at him. He wanted her to like him. He didn't know why, why he was doing this. He was happily married. But there was that strange stirring in his pants when he saw her. What was happening to him?

She was actually really surprised that he had came by for lunch. Not that she minded, in fact she really liked it. She found herself attracted to him and god she knew she shouldn't be. He was married and she was almost twenty years younger than him. There was no way he'd want her, not like that anyway. The way he looked at her, winked at her, it made her feel incredibly sexy.

As he looked at the menu, she felt herself staring him. And suddenly she started to wonder what he looked like underneath his buttoned down shirt. She figured he was well worked out since he appeared to have a nice body. The thought alone was starting to make her hot. She had to snap out of this or she was going to embarrass herself. She thought about this morning when he put his hand over hers. She felt that electric spark run through her. She was doomed...she was incredibly attracted to him.

"Uh...yes, the menu..." She said, snapping herself back to reality. "Any of the burgers are really good." She recommended.

“Sure, that sounds good,” he replied, looking up at her. He found himself unwittingly staring at her boobs and wondering how big they really were, and then there was that unexpected stirring in his pants again. He had to shift in his seat so it wouldn’t be obvious. “Um, how about a cheeseburger? Do you have cheddar? And fries will be fine. And just a glass of water.” He watched as she wrote down his order and gave her a smile as she left.

While he waited for his meal, he watched her bustling around the diner, taking other orders and bringing out food for other people. The more he watched her, the more he realized that he was attracted to her. He wondered what else she did when she wasn’t waitressing. Was she in school? Did she have a boyfriend? Was she good in bed? He noticed that his hardness had increased and was even making a tent in his pants. Stop that! He told himself. I am happily married. But he wasn’t able to stop. He was thinking about how could he engage her in a conversation and find out more about her when she came back with his food.

She scribbled down his order on her note pad and bustled back to the kitchen. She had to get it together. This was insane, she was attracted to a married man, one who was almost twenty years older than her. She found herself picturing him without his shirt on. She found herself wondering what his body looked like underneath his buttoned down shirt. The way he looked at her, the way he winked at her, it made her feel incredibly flustered.

She brought his water and silverware over to his table. She put the silverware and place mat down on the table and accidentally brushed her hand against his. She felt a shiver run down her body. She bit her lip, knowing being so close to him was dangerous . She found herself thinking about in ways she knew she shouldn't be .

"Your order should be out soon." She said softly. The diner was beginning to feel warm but she knew it was just her body. He made her so damned flustered.

Mark smiled as she set down his water and silverware, then her hand brushed against his as she put down the placemat. It seemed accidental and innocent, but he did wonder just a little bit. Again, he felt that little spark that he couldn’t quite explain. He was about to say something, but she turned and left quickly before he had a chance. He thought she seemed a little flustered, he had no idea why she would be. He wondered whether she would really be interested in him at all, or if it was just going to be his little fantasy that never became real. He probably should just leave it at that, he thought. After all, he was happily married.

He sipped at his water and continued to watch her. When she came back with his burger, he was ready. “Thank you, Erika. You’re a very good waitress, do you know that? You do a really good job. Is this your fulltime job, or do you do something else? I mean, like are you in school or something? It seems like you’re always busy here. Do you ever have any free time?” His question was meant to be innocent, but he quickly realized she might think otherwise. He hoped she didn’t take it wrong. Or maybe he actually hoped that she would.
