I have a dildo but it is not really big enough to satisfy me. I would love to get a new one, but I just can't right now for various reasons (People checking my mail in particular!)

I would love to hear from people whether they have any ideas for everyday objects that I could use instead, that wouldn't make people suspicious when I buy them in the store....

Homemade Dildo

Before I was bold enough to buy the real thing (online shopping wasn't as big when I first felt the "need") I experimented with making my own.

The best DIY version I found was to do the following.

1) Save the cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels.

2) Buy a pack of condoms.

3) Go to Home Depot and buy a couple tubes of silicone caulk (I think I used the "clear drying" kind).

4) Unroll a condom and lower it into the paper towel tube, saving the last 1/2 inch or so to fold back around the top of the tube (when you're done, if you stand the tube on end, the condom will be "suspended" in the tube, hanging from the top of the tube by the the end that's folded back around the top of the tube.

5) Fill the condom with the silicone caulk. The paper towel tube keeps the condom from expanding and getting too wide (imagine filling a water balloon, and how when it gets heavy all the water creates a big ball at the bottom of the balloon). The tapered end of the condom (I suggest one with a reservoir end) will create a tip for the dildo that allows for better initial penetration.

6) Allow the dildo to cure standing straight up, to keep the your toy from being lopsided.

7) It may take a few days for the "dildo" to cure (that caulk isn't designed to be used in that type of thickness). The caulk smell may take a while dissipate, but when done, you will have a nice, sturdy silicone dildo that's shaped like a condom, has a smooth tapered tip, the girth of a paper towel tube (and that's a healthy girth for anyone other than a size queen/king) and a bit of flexibility that you will appreciate when using :)

Pro tip: Buy a paint roller that has a screw-in wooden handle. Once the silicone starts to "firm up" at the open end of the condom, insert the handle with the threads fully enclosed in the silicone. Let it finish hardening like this. Once it's "cured," you can unscrew the handle from the dildo, and you have a removable handle that allows for better gripping when using your new toy and can be removed for more discreet storage.

Hope that helps!

PS. You can use the same technique using water to make an ice dildo from more kinky fun.

Note:

You can use a rubber band and the top of the paper towel tube to help keep the condom in place.
