Different stories linked to one

I am writing this story and the time line brings me past other stories. Has anyone written a story that has links to other stories in the middle of it?
Considering this to shorten the length of the story. Am I better off just saying screw it and pass these areas to complete the story?

Example:

Blah.............Blah...........................blah
.........blah..................blah...................
and we went to the nudest beach resort on our honey moon

Enter link for story those interested in what happened at this time. As a story by itself.
_________________________________________________
On the way home from the Island resort I never gave thought to what occured for many years later.
Blah.........Blah................blah......

in years later when I returned to the island, with my wife this that and the other thing occured. this

Now things in my mind were starting to piece together like a puzzle. Time passed and a year later I found myself drawn to the island alone for answers................


No that is not the story; just an example of what I was considering as a form to present. The other stories are not pertinent to the story but are almost teasing as to what happened at the resort. as it stands now My character checks in and a line later he checks out. Couples / Breezes / Hedo are all exotic stories just not the story I am building up to.

What do you think? is that a stupid Idea? good idea? has it been tried and failed?
Will they allow me to post a story with links to other stories?

No, not exactly but thanks. I was not looking for different endings nor different authors. I am better off just saying screw it and pass these areas to complete the story.

I would elude to it. Anyone who is into your works should recognize what you're referring to without any red flags. Any newbies reading the story would be lost, though. A short disclaimer at the top of your story suggesting your other works be read first to have the story make any sense would go a long way. You could provide links there to the specific titles.

If the story has enough meat to stand on it's own, it shouldn't be a problem. It might suffer in the socres if the readers don't get it, but then they're the ones missing out.

Or, if you want to complicate things, copy and paste your old stories into your new work and submit it as an opus.

No I do not like those exceptional long stories myself. Some of the stories I have not writen yet. This story stands just fine alone. I just thought passing by some erotic moments in time might make the reader wonder what about the Nude beach? But they do not have an actual message to give to the story.

I haven't written one, but I did come across one (not on here) and it was huge. The "parent" story was nearly half a megabyte (in HTML) and the "descendant" stories were three megabytes (also in HTML).

I thought it worked rather well. The main story was complete in itself and the other ones could be read, or not, as the fancy took the reader.

I am pretty sure Lit would not let you post anything with a link in it, but check with Laurel or Manu (via PM preferably) and ask.

My tale was not nearly that big. I have considered my possibilities and my thought was to have each story posted on lit, as to not have outside web-links.

Before I impose on Laurel or Manu for more time they seem to have lack of. I would want to have a more concise plan.

My plan at this time is to finish the story and have it posted, as I complete the stories to wich I feel complete a thought in this story I can re-submit the story with links. This will limit the amount of people, I know that will view it in this form. None the less seems to be a better aproach.

Then if the Idea is not feasible to the site nothing is lost.

What if you put a disclaimer at the beginning of your story and advised the reader that links to previous happenings will be in brackets at certain points in the story. That way if they want to find out what happened, they can go read the previous story. If they've read it already or don't care to read it, they can just pass it by...

I think this is an interesting way to link your work together without having chapter after chapter...

It's like a 'flashback' sequence in a movie!

Yes that is what I would like to achieve to start linking my stories together like a puzzle. Exactly like a 'flashback' sequence in a movie! Then the reader could see how my stories are related and not by just a Fictional author name, or story1, story2, story3, .......
