THE WEEKLY STANDARD understands that it will take some time to "gather all the facts" about what happened on the ground in Benghazi. But presumably the White House already has all the facts about what happened that afternoon and evening in Washington—or, at least, in the White House. The president was, it appears, in the White House from the time the attack on the consulate in Benghazi began, at around 2:40 pm ET, until the end of combat at the annex, sometime after 9 p.m. ET. So it should be possible to answer these simple questions as to what the president did that afternoon and evening, and when he did it, simply by consulting White House meeting and phone records, and asking the president for his recollections.

1.) To whom did the president give the first of his "three very clear directives"—that is, "make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to?"

2.) How did he transmit this directive to the military and other agencies?

3.) During the time when Americans were under attack, did the president convene a formal or informal meeting of his national security council? Did the president go to the situation room?

4.) During this time, with which members of the national security team did the president speak directly?

5.) Did Obama speak by phone or teleconference with the combatant commanders who would have sent assistance to the men under attack?

6.) Did he speak with CIA director David Petraeus?

7.) Was the president made aware of the repeated requests for assistance from the men under attack? When and by whom?

8.) Did he issue any directives in response to these requests?

9.) Did the president refuse to authorize an armed drone strike on the attackers?

10.) Did the president refuse to authorize a AC-130 or MC-130 to enter Libyan airspace during the attack?

The highest estimate I’d seen before this of the number of attackers was 40. Read this piece and think about not only how many people were involved but how organized and deliberate they were, particularly in setting up roadblocks before making their move. Then think about Chris Stevens and the skeleton crew of unarmed Libyan guards that State left him with trying to repel something of this magnitude. This explains why a Spectre gunship might have been needed: There were a lot of jihadis swarming the consulate that night.

The Obama administration has spent six full weeks blatantly lying, obfuscating, and blaming a low-budget anti-Islamic video for the attack on the U.S. consulate. Now, after dodging questions about whether requests for help were denied by U.S. officials, the Obama administration -- more specifically President Barack Obama -- is adamantly vowing that his administration will "find out what happened" and discipline those responsible.

Of course he has to say that. However, even if the president didn't personally instruct security personnel in Benghazi to "stand down," it's not at all difficult to imagine an unruffled Obama watching the attack in real time, yawning, executing a sleepy stretch, and saying, "It's getting late guys, I think I'll turn in."

Furthermore, it's pretty obvious that the sanctity of life isn't exactly a top priority for pro-choice Barack Obama, whose claim to fame is his belief that some human lives are disposable. Lest we forget, the president is an avid proponent of born-alive babies being left to die, or as he so aptly put it, "looked after" by the doctor that failed to kill them on the first try.

With that in mind, if a disposable human being were being purposely asphyxiated in a burning American consulate in Benghazi by a band of terrorists, perhaps Barack Obama felt that responding to desperate cries for assistance could "burden the original decision" of some other, more significant political goal. After all, the president did once say that a doctor attending to a suffering infant does "burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion."

Therefore, along with Mr. Woods, one can't help but wonder if some "original decision" might have been undermined if military reinforcements were given the go-ahead to save the lives of the Benghazi four.
