Did you get hit on when you started posting stories?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies-- one truth that emerges is that many who have created female identities are males. I wonder what the percentage is?

It's going the other way as well. I dare say that most who are writing GM stories are female (and a good percentage of those don't have a clue about GM writing).

Mostly, I've gotten roleplay requests. Haven't found a scenario that's interested me so far out of those proposed to me ;) Oh and also comments about redheads *LOL* Someone said "Yeah, so Jessica Rabbit was a redhead and hot one at that." *giggles*

Also, a few readers have been inspiring me and offering challenges. It's a lot of fun. The latest one, I hope to post soon.

Yep a few times, but they all thought I was a female. Except the first one. The first one wanted me to share my experience about some link they sent me, which was to some meditation website. I totally ignore them now, i might get a 5-10 after I post a story.

I used to ask them to please read bio, but I figure they're sending the same round down range a hundred times to see what they get; no time to check the bio.

Sadly, no. I guess the blue glow in my profile scares would-be suitors off. It's just as well... ;)

Honey, I haven't posted anything in two years and I still get hit on ... I guess some people think if you write smut you must live your life the same way your characters do.

What she said. :D

And Box, age has nothing to do with it. Assuming they take a look at the profile. LOL

:rose:

I do, yes. I certainly don't mind it or anything but they certainly run the range of being endearing and hot to fairly off-putting.

I would think that more authors would feel gratified when readers hit on them after they post an erotic story. I mean, isn't that sort of reader response a testament to your writing ability? I don't care whether you're male or female, if your writing ability elicits that kind of reader response. . . well, wasn't working your audience up into a lather what you were shooting for?

The situation reminds me of my patio sliding glass door. It lets the sun in and makes the whole living room look so damn good when the glass is spotless. I have a secret blend of Windex and some other additive -- you will have to kill me to find out what -- that makes the glass damn near invisible after I clean it. Every now and then, I'll be working away at my desk just off the living room, when BAM! A bird comes flying headlong into my patio door without ever knowing what hit him. The impact is jarring and somewhat of a bother, momentarily. But at the end of the day, I feel immensely gratified at how convincingly invisible that glass door truly is, as I shovel away the dead bird carcasses that pile on my patio deck.

My feedback/response experience here has been *wonderful.* I haven't gotten a single insult or rant, and given that this is the internet and it's all basically anonymous, I find that kind of shocking. I've gotten a couple of creepy suggestions for what to have happen in my stories -- a little too much info on a couple of them is all -- but that's it. However, I've only been on here since mid-September.

As for being hit on? No. My profile is up-front with the straight, male and attached stuff. I have no pic. (You'll just have to take my word for it that I'm a thin, charming, relatively good-looking dude...LADIES...)

The most interesting feedback I got was from a couple (both man and woman emailed me separately) telling me they were intent on doing a little "roleplay" as a couple of the characters in my story. That was very flattering -- but there were no details, and I was quite happy with that, too.

have to wonder...

have to wonder what the true male to female ratio is here-- how many "women" are really men. Some identities, when you read them, very obviously are fakes. From what I gather, women, as a rule aren't into the short, highly sexual stories that men tend to enjoy. You only find those for sale in sex shops in the real world. Women prefer longer, romantic stories where sex is just a minor part of the plot.

I get hit on all the time by someone named anonymous. They must be very shy cause they never leave a return address. ;)

Over the years, I've had a few people hit on me, including a certain college professor. But the two that flattered me the most were the ones who offered out of the blue to edit for me. Happy to say the first one is an author in her own right now. Sorry to say the second passed away suddenly. I miss both of them dearly.

Really? Are you sure? ;)

Nope, never been hit on because of a story I wrote.

Honey, I haven't posted anything in two years and I still get hit on. I get e-mails where guys confuse me with my character and invitations to role-play in chats.

I guess some people think if you write smut you must live your life the same way your characters do.
Agreed, I took all my stories offline just because I couldn't stand getting 'offers' from men, which is surprising since I did write mostly lesbian erotica that put men in a powerless position.

Hmpf! So you were getting hit on by men who wanted to 'change' you from the sub position? I guess it takes all kinds . . .

It seems different

What I have read of erotica in general market bookstores like Barnes & Noble is different from most of the stuff you would read here-- the stuff here is better in my opion, btw. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it-- good stuff-- but just different from the kind of stuff men generally prefer.

Yes, quite a bit when I was writing more. Now, just occasionally. Now that I'm married, I just take it as a compliment when it does happen and don't respond.
