I am sure someone had to see the movie by now. How was it? What did you like/dislike? How was the soundtrack?

A guy down the hall saw it last night at midnight. His review:

"the movie fucking rocked"

That's all I've heard so far.

Very little action or effects, but the dialogue was sparkling and the sex scenes were spectacular.

Let's just say Jar Jar redeems himself in this one.

Here's what the top critix are saying:

negative: "A decidedly mixed bag."
-- David Ansen, NEWSWEEK

negative: "Lucas has in fact come closer than anyone could desire to the cheap, graceless, hackneyed sci-fi serials of the '30s and '40s."
-- Michael Atkinson, VILLAGE VOICE

positive "In a time when, more often than not, sequels disappoint, it's refreshing to uncover something this high-profile that fulfils the promise of its name and adds another title to a storied legacy."
-- James Berardinelli, JAMES BERARDINELLI'S REELVIEWS

negative: "For those of us who respond more strongly to storytelling than computer-generated effects, the new Star Wars installment hasn't escaped the rut dug by the last one."
-- Mark Caro, CHICAGO TRIBUNE

positive: "No screen fantasy-adventure in recent memory has the showmanship of Clones' last 45 minutes."
-- Mike Clark, USA TODAY

positive: "It's dark but has wonderfully funny moments; you care about the characters; and the action and special effects are first-rate."
-- Paul Clinton, CNN

positive: "An exhilarating two hours of serious fun"
-- Richard Corliss, TIME MAGAZINE

negative: "Episode II-- Attack of the Clones is a technological exercise that lacks juice and delight."
-- Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES

negative "Other than McGregor, who continues to cut a dashing figure as the sagacious Jedi, the movie is plagued by bad acting."
-- Kirk Honeycutt, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

negative: "Clones is more star chores than Star Wars."
-- Glenn Lovell, SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS

queer: "Not a Gay character in sight except Mr. McGregor and Jar Jar. What's up with that?"
--Glam Rilla, LITEROTICA PIPE SMOKER NEWS

Not according to some, but thank you nonetheless. 'Tis a pity Glamorilla probably won't return my affection.

I liked it. The movie, however had no sense of Pacing... A chase scene, a fight scene, then slow it down for an hour. Lucas has a great fight planner, but awful pickup lines.

Action good.
Romance not so.

Overall pretty good (LOT more action than romance)

Obi and 3P0 get some great lines, too bad about Anakin not getting any (Lines that is)

Yoda is a bad ass.

Plan on seeing it this weekend.

After reading these reviews..I'm more excited than ever.

Glam Rilla put you over the top, eh?

My Local newspaper said it's for Star Wars die-hards only...

Boring till the last half hour...I still haven't seen Phantom Menace...But I'm still in love with Natalie Portman...Personally, I recommend Hardware Wars...

I'm gonna get ripped right now and go see "Dogtown and Z-boys" later today...then to Aztecas for all-you-can-eat-tacos Thursday...

"I don't believe in Jesus, Peter Pan, or Superman...I hated Star Wars...I want to Ride my Bicycle"...Freddie Mercury...but then again, he's dead:kiss:

Attack of the Clones Rocks.

They could have left off the romance scenes between Amidala and Anakin, they seemed forced and unreal.

Yoda is the FUCKING MAN !!!!!!!!!!!

I saw it this morning and I was not disappointed in the least. I plan to see it again and buy the DVD when it comes out. :D

My friends who have seen it tell me the same thing, that they could have left out the romance scenes and that Yoda is awesome. Yoda comes more to life in this movie and does not seem so much a puppet on a string.

They also told me that some of the special effects are the best they have seen and that you start to hear some of what will happen in the future like Obi Wan telling Anakin that he will be the death of him yet.

The DVD is coming out in September. I have not heard if it will be available on VHS in September.

While you're at it...

I also recommend renting Harold and Maude...Gotta love that score...Bring your own girl, we'll bring the Popcorn and beer

I think the last movie like this that I really liked wuz Predator...and I hate Arnold movies

Spiderman seems interesting because it wuz directed by Sam "Evil Dead" Rami...

American Graffiti

Just talked to some friends who said the New movie wuz Great...Worth the wait...and they didn't understand Baraka either...I'm gonna wait till the Midnight Hour to see Star Wars, when there's no one else around...I don't care for lines...well, some I do:cool:

Started out slow,(the romancewas pretty stupid, but, ya knew they needed it.) but, it gradually got AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Yoda with a lightsaber, kicking the shit outta Dooku. LMAO!!!!!!!!!! And, ALOT less Jar Jar. And, when he WAS on screen, he didn't even bother me. Half of his screentime was just standing around, looking stupid. "If only Senator Amidala were here. Jar Jar, looking confused. LOVED the payback. And, Anakin is somewhat mechanical at the end. It was GREAT to hear The Death,(or, is that Darth?,) March, again.

I really liked it. I will see it at least a couple more times in the theatre and definitely own the DVD when it comes out. I'd say it's my second favorite of all the SW movies. Just slightly behind Empire right now!

It's probably 3rd, behind Empire & A New Hope. I have heard that the scene with 3PO was kinda annoying(when he gets his head replaced on a droid,), but, it made me laugh SOOOOOOO hard. Yeah, it was kinda a strech as to explain why he didn't remember anything about Tatooine in A New Hope. But, like I said, it was funnier than hell.
