It's not Eminem or Limp Biskit, but I was wondering if we had any Diana Krall fans out there.

Reason I ask is this: I just bought her new CD last friday. It's called "Live In Paris".

Now...I've liked her for quite awhile as it is. I tend to listen to a little of everything...and she's just someone who caught my ear. Well...on this new CD she does a rendition of Joanie Mitchell's "A Case of You" ....and it's breathtaking. I love it. I think I've listened to it a couple dozen times in the last 72 hours.

Like her? Hate her? Ever heard of her? lol....discuss.

Lyrics to follow:
V~~~

just before our love got lost you said,
"i am as constant as the northern star."
and i said, "constantly in the darkness
where's that at?
if you want me i'll be in the bar."
on the back of a cotton coaster
in the blue t.v. screen light
i drew a map of canada
oh canada
with your face sketched on it twice.

in my blood like holy wine
you taste so bitter and so sweet
well, i could drink a case of you, darling
and i would still be on my feet
i would still be on my feet.

oh i am a lonely painter
i live in a box of paints
i'm frightened by the devil
and i'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid.
i remember that time you told me
"love is touching souls"
surely you touched mine
'cause part of you pours out of me
in these lines from time to time.

my blood
my holy wine
tastes so bitter and so sweet
well i could drink a case of you, darling
and i would still be on my feet
i would still be on my feet

i met a woman
she had a mouth like yours
she knew your devils and your deeds
and she said, "go to him, stay with him
but be prepared to bleed"

my blood
my holy wine
tastes so bitter and so sweet
well i could drink a case of you, darling
and i would still be on my feet
i would still be on my feet

I love Diana Krall. I saw her on a television show and totally fell for her sound. She has such a great voice. I've DL'd quite a bit of her music onto my laptop. I'm a huge fan of her style music to begin with. She's excellent. Classy soulful talent.

Island....it's great. I now own four of her's. This one has to be the best of them so far, literally.

And...Caly...do yourself a favor and download this song as well. You won't be sorry. Between her vocals...and this masterful person playing the piano it's almost enough to bring tears to your eyes.

I know...I'm gushing. lol

I'm going to refrain from comment on the grounds that my inebriated mind could get me introuble.

Chicken.

Well

Her music is okay, but I don't like what I've seen of her interviews and the like. She always seems phony to me and quite full of herself.

Well...I can honestly say I've never heard nor read an interview of hers...so you could very well be correct.

But...I don't want to sit and have dinner with her. I'm just in it for the music. ;)

Hell...I'm full of myself...and I can't sing. LOL

A Case of You

I love this song. I think I have posted it several times...here & there.

I didn't know she had that many cd's.

I bought one last year, I will have to check out her new one.

See? I knew Morgy had great taste...and here's proof.

She is one of my very favorite artists, with talent not seen in jazz since Nat King Cole.

I have everything she's done except the newest CD and I'll be picking that one up Monday evening. :D

She is my fantasy woman, too. ;)

I love Diana Krall. I was introduced to her in my Human Sexuality class and I fell instantly in love with her music. It is so beautiful and very sensual. Wonderful artist! :rose:

She's not hard on the eyes...I'll say that much. <g>

lobito summed it up just fine earlier: "looks nice, but more importantly, sounds good." I'd have to amend that to "Sounds fantastic", but I'm biased. lol

Diana Krall is amazing. I've loved her music for awhile, but don't own any cd's. I'm definitely going to pick this one up soon.

She's from a city about 2 hours north of me! I LOVE her voice.. it's raspy and deep and soft and strong and... wow.... But. I don't like her face. She seems to 'put on' that sensual jazz look sometimes... it's real sometimes, but sometimes you can just tell it's fake. And of course her promoters have now made selling her music about selling her appearance... her legs have become a huge deal up here, and I think that's stupid. The woman's voice has enough merit, it's beautiful. I think her marketing team is cheapening her.

Awww... Vixie?

The woman is drop-dead GORGEOUS! But more important - she is the most talented female jazz singer-pianist around right now. :D

The best export musically that we've had in a long while, IMHO. ;)

Thanks for this post Vilac. I downloaded some of her songs, including the one you mentioned - she's fantastic.
