So you are just a font of knowledge in all things trivia? I want you on my lit Trivial Pursuit team. You and Nat. We'd rule :D

LOL

I get a daily email that includes a 'did you know' for that date. I am very fond of trivia though. I used it a lot when I was teaching, especially in history and literature to make it come alive.

For example: If the earth has always had the same amount of water and if it is constantly being reclycled you could be drinking Abraham Lincoln's urine. That was one for science. Yes, it freaked the kids out, but it got them to think, talk and tell me how disgusting I am. They also took my ramblings home and told their parents what I said.

Here's the link to the daily email:

Thank you madam...I shall pass that on, as well, to my trivia lover.

As for Lincoln's urine...uhm...I"m not going to think about that :D And surely it was filtered by the aquafer, right?

That's the kind of remarks I wanted the kids to come up with and of course they did, but it's the original thought that matters.

Happy Belated Valentines Day  DGO

Happy Early President's Day!

Nice to see you're back

Did you know...

... that today is African Queen Day? In 1952, John Huston's classic movie, "The African Queen," premiered at the Capitol Theater in New York City. Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn starred. Celebrate today by watching some ogod ol' late night television movies!

Did you know...

... that today is Big Pig Day? In 1979, someone in Stamford, Texas, paid $42,500 for one pig (the highest price ever for a pig). Now that's what I call pork! ;-)

Did you know...

... that today is the birthday of Pate de Foie Gras aux Truffes? In 1784, Jean-Joseph Clause, a French pastry chef, received a patent for his pate de foie gras aux truffes. He went on to begin his own business specializing in supplying pate to the gentry. Now aren't you glad you know that?
;)

Did you know...

... that today is the birthday of the Three-Cent Coin? In 1851, the U.S. Congress authorized the silver three-cent piece, perhaps, some have said, the most useless American coin ever!

Did you know...

... that today is the birthday of "Happy Birthday to You"? Mildred J. Hill composed the tune for a song then known as "Good Morning to All," first published in 1893, as a greeting song for teachers to sing to their students. Her sister Patty Smith Hill wrote the lyrics and, in 1924, added a stanza that became the now popular birthday song, "Happy Birthday to You." So think of Mildred and Patty whenever you sing out the birthday song!

just checking in to see how things are going with you DGO :)
oh & you can sing to me Apr. 1st;)

Did you know...

... that today is Cabbie Brains Day? In 2000, researchers at the University College of London announced research showing that the brains of London cab drivers grow and adapt to help them keep a detailed mental map of the city of London. Brain scans revealed that cab drivers have unusually large development in one area of the hippocampus, the part of the brain which deals with navigation critical for learning.

Snow Show

A weather man predicted snow
But he didn’t get it right
So the female anchor on the show
Asked to our delight
"So Bob, where's that 8 inches!
You promised me last night?"

Oh yeah, it's snowing here!
