Did you know...

... that today is Mountain out of a Molehill Day? In 1943, a crack appeared in a cornfield in central western Mexico. Within a week, the crack turned into a mound of earth, then a 450-foot hill, and finally a 1200-foot volcano, eventually covering a 10 square mile area. The volcano of Paricutin now holds the distinction of being the only volcano on the planet born in modern times.

TGIF {{{{{{{DGO}}}}}}}}} WOW!!!!

Have a fantastic one.

... that today is the birthday of the Tootsie Roll? Leo Hirschfield brought the recipe for Tootsie Rolls from his native Austria. In 1896, he began making the candy bits, which he named after his daughter Clara (whose nickname was Tootsie), in his kitchen behind his candy store. He sold the bits for a penny a piece. Celebrate by eating your favorite sweet today!

Good afternoon {{{{{DGO}}}}} Thank you for the information about the Tootsie Roll. Now, I wonder how he'd feel if he knew they now make that in all kinds of flavors?

Probably like me. I don't want the other flavors. I want the tootsie roll that I grew up with! :)

I hear you on that one. I've had a taste of a couple of them and they don't have any real taste or the right texture. :)

When I was in elementary school we'd stop at the local store on our way back from lunch and buy penny candy. There would usually be four or five or us with a penny or two each and we'd pool our money and share the candy. Those were the days. Now people won't bend over to pick up a penny!

... that today is National Obnoxious Day? You can be as obnoxious as you want on this day. Just be sure to stay away from grumpy people... ;)

Happy Birthday

When I was in early grade school there was a candy, sweet shop about a block from my house. It had the glass display and all and when one went in the owner would be telling us not to touch the glass. We would leave the fingerprints. In any case you'd point to what you wanted in the penny candy section and leave then after spending your few cents. I do remember those days too.

Thank you for the 'Did You Know" and the birthdays. :D Do you know any grumpy people?

Thanks. It would be better if I were humping, but alas today is a humpless day.

Not getting any humping in my neck of the woods today. We are getting some nice weather though. It is sunny and in the mid 40s. :)

It's 69 here now. Hard to believe that we're expecting snow on Saturday.

We are expecting some tomorrow night. Right now it is 2-4 inches, but of course that can become as much as the 4-8 inches they are forecasting for the north of me if the front tracks a bit differently than expected.

I hope the weather forecasters are wrong.
