TGIF {{{{{{{DGO}}}}}} Thank you for sharing Maya Angelou's birth date with us. She is quite something. The poem you included does say it all and does it so well.

That's a poem that most people aren't familiar with. I had two students perform it for a Poetry Festival.......one girl was the speaker and a boy acted as the preacher. She was dressed as an old lady complete with gray wig! It was a delightful performance.

I am sure that was. :)

Not sure why I know her. Perhaps it was something I saw on PBS. Of course my Mom introduced us to poetry when we were young. It wasn't of the type Maya writes; yet it did expose us to that type of verbal expression. We'd memorize poems while on long car trips. Back before the days of interstates; traveling between WI and FL.

I've always loved poetry. It was my favorite unit to teach. In elementary and high school there was always memory work. In Public Speaking we had to read a poem. I selected "The Creation" by James Weldon Johnson. My mother overheard me practicing was told me that she had learned and recited that very poem in school. She started reciting it and I joined her. It was one of those kodak moments.

Hearing about that "kodak moment" put a big smile on my face. Thank you.

Did you know............

That on this day, April 5, 1614, Pocahontas married John Rolfe?

.....and people said it wouldn't last.

Nothing exciting. My niece and nephew will visit. Oh, and my muse has returned so I'll do some writing.

You?

I have a very long list of things I don't want to do (cooking, cleaning, laundry). The usual weekend list. Some of us still work during the week (is my jealousy peeking out?) ;)

Have a fun visit!

Even when I was working I didn't do chores on the weekend other than the usual cooking and taking my son to music when he had lessons on Saturday. Each evening I did one chore so that I was free on the weekend.

I used to try todo something useful in the house after work, but I'm usually too tired. Maybe I need to work on that!

It's well worth the effort believe me. Of course I didn't work 8 hours and my job was easy. :D

Now that I think about it, I used to do things in small chunks (like dusting a couple of rooms, rather than the whole house). I think I'll try that next week!

Let me know how it works. I'm back to doing one thing a day even now. It just makes it seem so much less work that way.

Great idea! I have already started grocery shopping during the week when the stores aren't busy. I hate crowds, and it's one less thing to do on the weekend.

I shop online for groceries. I've been doing it for about 10 years. I wouldn't trade the service for all the tea in China. It's done by a local chain and it's wonderful. At first I thought I would prefer to pick my own meat and produce, but the shoppers are trained and I'm satisfied.

I've thought about that, but just wasn't ready to let someone else pick the fresh stuff. Glad to hear that the system works. Do you get to pick a delivery time?

We pick a delivery window. Now I live so close to the store that handles the online shopping that I'm usually first and usually before my 11-2 window. You also check whether you will accept a substitute if what you select isn't available. Anything you can't find on the site you simply write in at the end.

If anything isn't right we can call the store or email Marsha and she takes care of it. There's nothing to return, they simply refund your money. There have been times when I've returned something because it was convenient.......like the time a guy did my shopping and sent margarine instead of butter. Other funny things have happened. I didn't read correctly and got 1 mushroom instead of a pound. Or the time I thought pork chops were individual chops and ordered 4 and got 4 packages. Recently I ordered 1 donut and got 1 dozen!

I wonder if they thought you really only needed ONE mushroom! LOL

I guess it's possible to need just one, but still a pretty strange order!

What's the weekend weather like where you are? It's bright & sunny here :)

It's 35 and sunny. It's supposed to hit 63. We need a lot more days without rain to dry out. More rain is expected Thursday and that has folks concerned.
