Now this is just fuckin' pathetic.

I suppose South Dakota is bucking for the "Windy" nickname. Tamany hall regurgitated.

Federal officials in Washington told Fox News that so far, the alleged fraud is said to have occurred on the Cheyenne River Reservation and the Pine River Reservation, and an investigation has been ongoing in six counties, including Dewey, Ziebach and Fall River.

According to officials, the FBI has uncovered the registration of minors, dead people, and people who do not exist. Many of the registrations have included bogus names and invalid addresses.

Investigators said in one case a woman was registered to vote a week after her death.

They have also found multiple absentee ballots distributed to the same registered voter but returned with different signatures, the officials said.

The case was brought to the attention of the South Dakota attorney general's office when county auditors began discovering problems with absentee ballot requests and votes. State Attorney General Mark Barnett said the investigation has been ongoing for two weeks.

Barnett said that he hoped invalid absentee ballots haven't been filed. Absentee voting began Sept. 24 and the registration deadline is Oct. 21.

"I don't even want to think about it," Barnett said. "A lot of absentee ballots are going to get looked at."

Federal sources said the key suspect in the investigation is a former staffer of the state Democratic Party, whom is alleged to have falsified voter forms. The party itself has not been implicated. Officials said that because of the size of the alleged fraud, they expect to find accomplices.

Sheesh. What happened to election ethics? Does no one possess them anymore?

Ack!

And I was gonna try and stay out of politics today!

Grrrrr.

KM...you hit the nail on the head.
Why is it Democrats are the first to scream VOTER DISENFRANCHISEMENT....but they seem to have this inane belief that the laws of our country only apply to OTHER people?

Do you think Democrats are the only ones that cheat?

I really like the presidential election of '76 for fun and games, skulduggery-style.

1876, that is.

as well as all the surface-to-air missiles in Minnesota!

1. A handful of people did this, not all the Democrats in the country. Politicians are power-hungry and pretty much evil as a rule. Most Democrats are misguided, not politicians.

2. This is just sorry.

By The Way,

Wasn't that the party that got some party to declare that the law that said 51 days really didn't apply if it was only 32 days or whatever before the election to replace one candidate with another just cuz the first one was behind in the polls?

And now has 10,000 lawyers out trying to come up with grounds to sue over election losses?

Before I could post a reply predicting that someone would say "Everyone does it" someone beat me to it.

Jesus M. Christ. The story is about Democrats. It wasn't about Republicans never doing anything wrong. It never fails. Anytime someone posts a report about the Dems doing something sleazy somebody replies with a Na-na-na-nana reply.

Just today, several allegations surfaced accusing Republicans of some of the same crap. I know one was for Sununu, sending out fliers to Section 8 and public housing representatives telling them they would lose their housing if they voted Democrat. A couple of other really nasty things in another state. Look it up yourselves, Im to lazy. My point is that they are all corrupt muthas.

They have to. The Republicans have all the paid assassins in this country on the RNC payroll. ;)

i can say, without a doubt in my mind, with absolutle certainty, that that statement is not true.

But that's not illegal. It's lowball politics to be sure, but nothing beyond the pale these days.

nothing new under the sun here. The dead have voted in lots of elections. New York, Chicago, New Orleans, all over. Been going on for ovr one hundred years too. One reason there is a new way to vote needed. perhaps fingerprinting or...I know...DNA profiling. Yeah, thats it. Then one person could only vote once. Yeah, thats the ticket. The government could know who voted and how and...should I go on?

There will be voter fraud as long as the 'will' of the people is put forth in the way that it is. Hopefully it will be rooted out before a vote becomes offical, but sadly that rarely happens. The only way to shut down the voter fraud would be for a dna test alnog with fingerprinting. Only problem is...the government would know how and who you voted for. personally. not a good idea. Any ideas?

Conspiracies between brothers using their influence over state governments don't count. This is a nation built on individuals doing right or wrong, not entire state administrations.

Interesting. A couple of Democrats make an unsanctioned and illegal move, but rather than deplore such politics, the local Dems are all trying to cover it up by slamming the other party or excuse it with an everyone does it rationale or the Republicans do it worse debate.

Why is that?

Because of the nature of the board. Anti-Republican things tend to sink while anti-democrat things seem to float. How many times has Thrilhouse posted PROOF that GWB lied? A couple. How many times have we seen "I STILL HATX0R CLIN-TON BECUASE HE LIED! IT IS TEH WORST THING EVAR! I WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT IT! LIELIELELLIEIIELEILEIIELIELLEILEIEILEI"

I know, I suck on a regular basis.

I can't say I'm much better because when my political racehorse shows his ass, I bring up Clinton. Or, rather, I used to.

:D

They all pretty much suck but whatchoo gonna do?

What's truly sad, is that whenever something like this happens, the opposite party jumps up and down and makes a HUGE deal about it, yet they turn around and do the same thing later. Bitch about it all you want, but it's just another day in politics, everyone's throwing shit at everyone else, and if you join in, you're just another brain washed sheep.

Slowfingers

If Al Gore did exactly what GWB did in the 2000 election, solely from those actions would he have gotten assassinated or just swept in this mid-term?

probably the reason that our forefathers really didn't want a 'party' system. Just the person running on his/her own merits should be the way it is. No parties at all. Everyone independant, everyone explaining what THEY want to do and how they would do things. Then, it is much easier to see how and what they do in office and during the next election even easier yet to make a change or keep them in. Simplicity is often the only answer.

(One little aside here...ThOmas Jefferson used a 'party' to get elected, but in later times very much regretted using that tactic. He was upset with himself for stooping to those measures to win.)
