I strongly suggest you get you & your wife to counselling. You've said you could love your wife again, if she'll do something and counselling is not too much to ask.
It's entirely possible your wife could have postpartum or other condition that needs treatment. The red flags are (at least according you) that she doesn't do anything all day and she's nice to the kids but mean/cold to you. The nice to the kids/mean to husband sounds a lot like my wife and within 2 counselling sessions, the counseller said told my wife to talk to her doctor about medication. (Unfortunately, wife's didn't, so that's lead to some difficult times at my house.) A counsellor can help sort out whether medical help is needed.
Also, your family history isn't the best and you probably need some help there. I applaud your attempts to avoid ending up like your father, but you'll likely need some help.
