Do away with it. It takes most of the strategy out of the game.

Yes ...

I agree, but the players union will not stand for losing a position I suspect ... a compromise, expand the team roster by 2 or 3 players and at the same time do away with the DH, a win - win proposal.

I don't think it did away with the strategy of the game just changed it to something less dramatic. I like the old way better where you just didn't know what the pitcher was going to do in his at bat.

You still pretty much know what the pitcher will do in his at bat - strike out. Yeah, some of them hit a little and some are downright comical. But truthfully, the game is boring in both leagues. The high strike is gone, pitchers avoid throwing fastballs, relying too much on breaking pitches and ballparks are being designed to attract free agent hitters (wonder why Griffey refused to resign with Seattle and ARod left after they put in a pitcher's park). Combine that with a pace of game that is snail-like and World Series games that preclude building a young audience since they start and end so late, and you end up with a game in trouble. Let me know next time you actually see a sandlot game of just kids playing ball.

You know, I must need more sleep. I thought the thread said "designated hitler." LOL.

They can work all that out during the upcoming strike. I do not care one way oe another, but right now small market teams are just a seive to produce the best players for the New Yorks and Atlantas of the world. Like AAAA ball. That needs to change more than the designated hitter.

No, just a reference. Like talking about stories and mentioning Teaching Patti 'cause everyone is on the same page. It's big urbanites who look down upon us who feed them, who want to quash our voice and kill the electoral college, who want to take your man-made pond, classify it as wetlands and then proceed to tell you how you may or may not use this national resource. I do not hate them, just have had a lifetime of being told I'm inferior.
