Describe your morning

For the next few weeks...

Wake up anywhere between 2am to 630am.. Drag myself out of bed dreading the day. Watch the weather.. Lament about choosing a career that works outside. Shit, shower, but never shave. Lay under the bedroom fan until I panic.. Dress and throw a few pieces of meat on a few pieces of bread for lunch. Grab an apple or orange to eat when I get to work. Spend the next 12 hours under the watch of the beating sun..

3 weeks from now..

I have no routine. I don't sleep cause I wait for the phone to ring and tell me to begin my day. Sometimes that day can last up to 36 hours. Sometimes the phone never rings. So I lay and I wait.. Doze and wake. Have creepy dreams of being awake.. Stress about my lack of sleep. Then lament how I didn't choose a career with regular hours.

Life is wonderful

Aw, the OP's mornings sound lovely. :)

Baby usually wakes me between 7 and 8, and we cuddle for a half hour or so before heading to the kitchen. I brew a single cup of coffee and put together breakfast for us both...this summer it's usually a bowl of berries or melon and a muffin or scrambled eggs. We eat out back on the patio in the shade of some large walnut trees and feed our crumbs to a squirrel we've named Fritz. I've almost got Fritz eating out of my hand. Baby watches him closely and quietly until he can no longer hold his excitement and then squeals loudly enough to send Fritz scrambling up a tree and onto his favorite branch, where he lounges like a cat, sprawled out with limbs dangling. Baby crawls over the grass while I finish my coffee. Then we'll head inside, and clean up and get dressed for the day.

Mid-morning is spent folding laundry, sweeping, dusting, etc. while baby plays in the nursery. When I've finished my tasks, we settle down together and look at board books or talk with his stuffed animals or play simple learning games like "Where's your nose?" When he begins to tire, we snuggle up again, and he nurses while he drifts off to sleep. I usually lay beside him with one arm pinned beneath his head and watch the news or HGTV or use my phone to check FB or read here. He usually sleeps until lunchtime.

I used to dread getting out of bed, but no longer. I really enjoy our quiet, routine morning hours together.

Sounds awesome. Now and then I get jealous of all the time my wife gets to spend with the little one. Then she goes out town for a few days and I see how hard that shit is.

Plus no matter how my wife tries to trick her she always answer " who is your best friend" with "daddy".

Wake 7:00 to 7:30. Get up, make coffee, take a walk to the paper box and back(about 1/2 mile) to pickup my morning news paper, read the paper, drink coffee, check all my usual haunts on the net, do a little writing, take a shower then I'm ready for the day, which is the usual stuff, you know: fishing, crabbing, shrimping, writing, reading, bike riding, shooting, motorcycle riding with the grandson....all those things I do at my leisure. As the Colonel noted, retirement is grand.
:D
