Rules are simple:

  1. Pick a currently active Lit author
  2. You should have read at least two of their stories, else it’s a bit pointless
  3. Write a brief summary of what they write about, their general writing style, and what you like about their work
  4. Post a link to your favorite story they have written
This is meant to be a fun, positive, supportive exercise, not an opportunity to be sarcastic or to parody people. Enough other threads for that.

I was going to say that I’d go first, but I suppose I’m asking for a volunteer.

Em

Good to see you are back to your forum average :D
I am almost ashamed to say that I haven't read a single story from anyone among the active forum members except for
a couple of stories you wrote, but they were way too short for me to make any solid conclusion. I should be able to do it once the third story in your trilogy comes out and I binge read all three.
I've also read one of Lovecraft stories (only one though) that had a slight femdom theme, and one of Tilan's stories.
Maaaybe I will decide to read a couple of stories from someone here on a whim, who knows.

I can relax the criteria to just one for you, hun.

That means you can pick someone other than me 😊.

Well, thanks, but I'll just go ahead and read a few stories once this thread kicks off properly. I need a decent sample size to make a valid opinion about anyone. The only problem is how to pick the author... hmmm 🤔

No takers?

Em

Describing someone else's style means that two or more stories are fresh enough in your mind that you feel you can do them justice. That takes time.

People may also be reluctant to try to describe another author's writing style for fear that the author would read it and think, "What the heck are you talking about? That's not at all how I would describe my style." I know I'd be hesitant to make generalizations about an author's style unless I'd read a fair number of their stories.

You might get a better response if you narrow the scope to item 4 on your list: Post a link to another author's story that you've really enjoyed and describe what you like about it.

That's just my two cents, though. I'm not trying to hijack your thread.

I think the easier question would have been "Describe YOUR Writing Style."

We all LOVE to talk about ourselves 😆.

I'm gonna refrain from this one, not because I haven't actually read any authors from the Hangout, or enjoyed their works.

I'm gonna refrain from writing about it because I'd be TERRIBLE at it.

Let's say I picked you, Em. I've read several of your stories, many of them vastly different.

How do I sum those up in a few paragraphs?

I can describe emotions and feelings I got from them; humor, heartfelt, arousal, happy, sad etc.

But how do I narrow that down to a "style?" No idea. I just know what I enjoy when I read.

Maybe someone more proficient with words can write some interesting insights to other writers here.

I personally don't feel qualified.

I'll go. I've read and enjoyed the works of many authors here. We've disagreed on some subjects in this forum, but I've always enjoyed Bramblethorn's stories. I would characterize Bramblethorn's prose style as solid and strong on the mechanics: punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc. There's a meticulous, careful quality to everything Bramblethorn writes. The stories can be very sexy but avoid getting over-the-top most of the time, the way I sometimes like to. The prose is understated. The sexiness is in the story that's being narrated and in the character development rather than in the choice of words. The treatment of characters is humane. You feel like you are reading about fully fleshed out people that the author cares about, making the sexy things that happen more interesting, and more erotic. The characters are adults, not caricatures.

I have to point out The Floggings Will Continue, because it's the zaniest story of Bramblethorn's that I've read and probably my favorite. It's about a corporate team-building session that goes full-on crazy sexy. It's one of the few stories at Literotica that make me wish I'd written it. My favorite part of the story is that it works on two levels: as a fun sex romp in itself, but also as a satire on corporate culture and corporate "team building" (things I've had more experience with than I wish I had and which the story nails). I've read very few stories at Literotica that succeed on multiple levels this way. The ending is perfect, like "The Usual Suspects" great. Highly recommended.

Yeah, no one's going to pick me, because I write long and it will take them several days.

So I'm trying to veer away from the too obvious. We all know about NTH's literary journal style with complex characters and emotional depth. (but this one is my favorite so far personally)

And we know your quasi-autobiographical style with heavy focus on consensual constraint, considerate pain infliction, and tentacles. (but I'm partial to this one because it's fun and crazy)

Or imstillfun's mastery of wives enjoying the attention of many men. (Like this)

And I've only read one of RedLegoDragon's so far, so I can barely comment on his stories of epic level infidelitous marathon fucking, nor his epic... length.

So I'll go with Tenyari, whose work is full of world building and grand scope, with a future history spanning generations. And naked green alien girls. I liked First Contact - Naked Alien Arrival.

Probably my least quasi-autobiographical work. Just one continuous sex scene with close to zero plot. Lots of fun to write and have to admit to reading it for stimulation sometimes. Deeply sad, I know.

Hey, great idea: Futanari / LW cross over. Loving Wives - With Cocks. Sure fire, right?

Dreams are the most pure reflections of our true selves. Depending on what we ate before bed of course.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, from an author's point of view. I love it when people offer insights on my work that I wasn't even aware of.
I'd invite anyone to critique my work here, but in my experience everyone either loves or hates it already.

Agree with that

Who exactly is the Futanari? There are at least three variations I can think of. It could be the person doing the cheating, the person they are cheating with, or it could be the person getting cheated on. Or it could be two of the three, or all three of them. So many choices; I actually have five here.

Fine. I’ll do it myself.

  1. Pick a currently active Lit author - RonCabo
  2. You should have read at least two of their stories, else it’s a bit pointless - Okay
  3. Write a brief summary of what they write about, their general writing style, and what you like about their work - They put character, situation and dialogue at the front of their work. Every author I tend to like in a BIG way also does this. It tends to make the sex mean something. I tend not to like stories that start with “and his dick was in my ass” and instead start with “the reflection that stared back at him was disappointment”
  4. Post a link to your favorite story they have written: these two are linked so I have to include them both. https://www.literotica.com/s/against-all-odds-2 https://www.literotica.com/s/what-are-the-odds-1
