Most decent people in this country will never succumb to the temptation to vote for a "Little Hitler." Or some wannabe KKK retread- even if they agree somewhat with his conservative positions on immigration and/or on economics. As horrible as Trump was- most rational people (mainline Republicans and Democrats alike) realize this now- he at least had charisma and was able to "sell" the idea of "Making America Great Again." Whereas DeSantis has what..."Make America White Again?" "Down With The Gays?" What else has he got? This isn't the Weimar Republic.

He will NEVER be a good president. The day when a divisive, outspoken racist could be elected president of the US are over. If he would put aside his authoritarian tendencies and his lust for institutionalized racism, he might be at least a passable president but hopefully the majority of America will reject him and everything he stands for. Much the same way Louisiana once rejected former KKK leader David Duke for governor, who shares the same social views as Ron DeSantis.

I’m still here, still would vote for DeSantis if the primary in my state was held today. That being said, Trump has dominated every poll. The gains DeSantis had started making have vanished. Since the indictments, Trump has even gained ground. He’s even up a couple points over Biden in the RCP average. At this point, the other GOP hopefuls need a miracle.

The indictments didn’t come out this morning. They’re old news and multiple polls have been taken since. The drop outs will happen when the fundraisers drop out. For the weakest, that will happen before the first primary. We saw that in 2020 with Kamala Harris. Expect the same with some of the GOP hopefuls in this cycle.

Lots of unknowns. Will there be a trial (or more than one trial) before the election? Possibly but his legal team will seek to delay.
