Deplorable celebrity Hulk Hogan - a fixture at Trump rallies - dead at 71

Hogan's heyday was largely before my time, but I remember him being popular and charismatic in cameos. It's a shame he squandered his legacy.

These days, all I have to say is, "Thoughts and prayers."

The thing about the WWE (etc) is it’s basically a drag show on steroids (literally): a pure drama & staged violence based / themed drag show, but still a drag show, yet the MAGAts (who are sooooo threatened by drag performers reading books to kids in a library setting) bring their kids to arenas enmasse to watch the disturbing spectacle that is the WWE, (etc).

Weird…

🤔

And there was always some homoerotic dynamic going on between Hulk Hogan & the "macho" MAGAt types (probably because “The Hulkster" was tall, with long blonde hair & big tits (pecs) who always did a strip show partway through the show ("went topless"). Yeah, Hulk Hogan was "beloved" by the MAGAts, and they will miss their favorite (drag) performer…

Weird…

🤔

Anyway…

😑

We. Told. Them. So.

Requiem for a Heavyweight shows a sad view of wrestling. The beat up old boxer who was proud of never throwing a fight couldn't get a job doing anything else, so he was reduced to wrestling in an Indian costume. He was a clown.

The scripted falls may hurt less than real fights, but done many times as a career, the result is still battered bodies with short lifespans.

Me thinks the many (admitted) years of steroids killed his heart, finally.
I thought that, too, after reading wrestler "Superstar Billy Graham" talking about the enormous amount of steroids Hogan injected DAILY. Graham said Hogan had a hardened lump of skin the size and shape of a tennis ball on his hip because Hogan insisted on using the same injection site every day.

The news tonight though was detailing the sheer volume of Hogan's bone replacement surgeries over the past 20 years, it seems 30 years on the road wrestling put a helluva lot of mileage on his body.

I believe Hogan had both knees, both hips and one shoulder replaced. Along with many back issues. 40 + years in the ring plus all the steroids took their toll. Not worth the rumored $25 million he was worth.

guess the news leaves me indifferent.

If he was murdered or died in some terrible accident, I'd experience a little sympathy. Even magats deserve a little sympathy sometimes. As of now, well he was close to trump and made $140 million suing Gawker for publishing stuff, racial crap, he was taped saying.

Hogan has become the centerpiece of scandals and controversies over recent years. He was caught using racial slurs on a sex tape that was made public -- 10 years ago to the day of his death -- leading Hogan to subsequently receive a $140 million judgment in 2016 against Gawker, which published portions
