If there is anyone out there who still doesn’t get where Black Lives Matter types are coming from — or whose side the people in charge are on — this should clear things up:

The head of the Denver police union is calling for the chief of police’s resignation after he says officers were told to stand down on Saturday as protesters poured red paint on a memorial for cops killed in the line of duty.

The desecration occurred during a demonstration against police brutality held outside of department headquarters.

As officers looked on, vandals poured red paint and sprayed graffiti on the memorial, on which the names of dozens of fallen officers are etched in stone.

“There’s no reason to allow someone to desecrate a memorial,” Denver police union president Nick Rogers told Denver’s CBS-4. “There’s no reason to allow that to happen. It’s wrong.”

“We have a breaking point, and we are there.”

Rogers speaks for society in general. Either we throw off the moonbattery that is destroying the country, or we let the vermin and the darkness win.

Denver Police Chief Robert White Defends His Stand Down Order To Police, While #BlackLivesMatter Defaced Police Memorial

Too late. He has already given the green light to Holder’s people. Denver is the next Oakland. Update to t\this previous story.

Denver Police Chief Robert White on Sunday defended his policy ordering police not to interfere with protesters, saying he found it “disgusting” that they vandalized a memorial for fallen police officers while officers had to stand by and watch, but he said their restraint was necessary to protect the community.

Protesters threw red paint on the memorial outside the department’s headquarters Saturday during a march against police brutality.

Officers and the city’s police union were upset after they were told not to interfere.

In an email sent throughout the department Sunday, White said there are only rare occasions when police would have to take “immediate enforcement action” during a demonstration.

“We have learned that providing route security at a distance and intentionally avoiding direct confrontation prevents injury to officers, limits liability, and minimizes the criminal actions of many protesters,” the chief wrote in the email obtained by The Associated Press. The email came after officers said they should have been allowed to act sooner upon witnessing a crime.[…]

“That our officers, working the demonstration today, had to watch the outrageous vandalism to our sacred memorial, without being able to intervene, is inexcusable and unacceptable,” Denver Police Officer Danny Veith wrote in an email to White. “Equally alarming is the escalation of anti-police rhetoric in our city, incendiary language and actions that have yet to be countered by city leaders, the mayor, or yourself.”

Veith told the AP he sent the email because he feels the rank-and-file aren’t heard in the chief’s office, but he declined to comment further.

White said the decision not to intervene in Saturday’s protest was appropriate because police had identified suspects and had a plan to arrest them. Mayor Michael Hancock said in a statement late Sunday that he condemns the “repulsive defacing” of the memorial but supports White’s decision not to engage. Hancock said officers showed “dignity in a terrible situation.”

#Policelivesmatter Supporters Leave Flowers At Vandalized Denver Police Memorial, Police Chief AWOL

In the wake of weekend vandalism at the Denver police fallen officer memorial, law enforcement supporters — including police officers themselves — left a mountain of flowers at the site as part of a day-long show of solidarity Wednesday.

“It’s not even so much if you knew them personally,” Ed David, a retired Denver cop who served on the force for 26 years, said of the fallen officers. “It’s about everyone on that wall. It’s about everyone here.”

The show of support was publicized on Tuesday by the National Fraternal Order of Police and on a Facebook page. Police said they have been receiving cards expressing support, which they displayed in a binder at the site.

Protesters dumped red paint on the memorial — which honors more than 70 fallen police officers — on Saturday afternoon, also plastering stickers on the site and nearby pillars. Police arrested two men in connection with the vandalism. They are being held on “investigation of criminal mischief-vandalism,” police said.

“When they signed up for this job, they didn’t think they were going to have to deal with crap like this,” Judy Richoz, a police supporter, said of the vandalism.[…]

One supporter left a sign reading: “We love DPD.”

“When I heard about this yesterday, it occurred to me that this was the same as (vandalizing) our Vietnam Memorial in D.C.,” said Tim Hall.

Hall, who said he is a veteran, came and left flowers at the memorial.

“It strikes deeply,” he said. “It cannot happen again.”

Firefighters on Saturday assisted in quickly cleaning the memorial, but the damage was done.

“Some of these people were my friends,” police Cmdr. Matt Murray said after the protest, gesturing to the memorial. “This is disrespectful, and I don’t think it displays the values of this community. We’re extremely disappointed.”
