I don't know if y'all remember my Denizens poems from way back when, but I'm working on adapting them into comic book form. This is an early test.

This is a sloppy page I knocked together quickly, but what do you think of the basic idea?

I love those poems Mutt, and I like graphic novels.....sounds like an interesting idea. All going to depend on the execution....if you can carry the feeling of the poems in the pictures.

I know I'll buy it....good luck. :nana:

I think it's a fantastic idea.. and even sloppy it looks really good.
 I'm right behind tung to buy the book.

I must say, if I'm going to have somebody behind me, I'm glad it's you... ;)

the graphics look awesome and the poem works perfectly in this format! Best of luck with this project, a unique twist of both artistic forms! Yum!!!

Ditto that.

Publishable, publishable, publishable.

Nice work, mutty. :)

Some of my favorite poems of all time.

Excellent idea
and the others are right
it works perfectly with the graphics.

Go get 'em Mutt

Wow, thanks for the encouraging words. I'm pretty fired up about this. I just got a mac a month ago, and I'm still learning the Comic Life program. It can be pretty frustrating. So far, I'm just playing with pictures I already had or found on the internet. I want to take some pictures specifically for this too. Fortunately, I have good access to actors and costumes.

When you get a chance, you really should look into publishing resources for this sort of poetry. (I know, for example, that the poet Ted Berrigan did something like this--nowhere near as elaborate as what you're doing--and published it in a little magazine.) It's very marketable, I think.

I have to say I like it better in black and white, or muted colors. Lends a greaeter ambience...IMHO.... does look like you're having a good time experimenting...getting th hang of it now.....

I'm loving that poem even more as a graphic. Please tell me you're seriously seeking a publisher.

Never been more proud of my Mutt than when he wrote the Denizens series. Now I get to be proud again as he turns them into graphic novels.

And, just for those of you who might be wondering, those are *my* sexy legs in that panel above.

I'm glad you guys are encouraging him. Keep it up!

It's no hardship to encourage talent! I'm so glad to know people who can turn their ideas into concrete expressions. It's fun annnnd rewarding to see it unfold.

i am glad i didn't let my ignorance and confused self stop me from coming back to this thread. i finally understand it.

i love the basic idea you have. i think the illustrations work really well with each series of words you've included.

image four with the boat - line two, 'up he mekong mud' - do you mean 'up the'?

Yes. Amazing how I can work on something for hours and still leave a typo.

And yes, once I get it finished I am determined to get it published.

looks great to me, Mutt!

Denizens: Maggie is one of my favorite poems at Lit.
