The short answer is that you can't.
The moderator of each subforum or Laurel are the only ones who can. I believe that they are generally reluctant to delete entire threads, especially ones with a lot of posts in them, because then there are a lot of posts that get deleted in the process.
Therefore, you generally need to have a really good reason, or have a good chunk of the thread be in violation of rules so it gets removed for you.

You can now add New GIF to good threads that have been deleted.
For the O/P you can't delete the thread, but you can edit what you posted. I believe you must leave something there. Delete the text and insert ***** should work.
