Good grief. The octogenarian President of the United States didn’t know who was acting as his defense secretary, and the Pentagon says that while Austin was hospitalized, his responsibilities were delegated to his deputy who was on vacation.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senior Biden administration leaders, top Pentagon officials and members of Congress were unaware for days that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had been hospitalized since Monday, U.S. officials said Saturday, as questions swirled about his condition and the secrecy surrounding it.

The Pentagon’s failure to disclose Austin’s hospitalization for days reflects a stunning lack of transparency about his illness, how serious it was and when he may be released. Such secrecy, at a time when the United States is juggling myriad national security crises, runs counter to normal practice with the president and other senior U.S. officials and Cabinet members.

Incompetence only begins to describe this administration. Biden needs removed under the 25th Amendment and his cabinet fired for dereliction.

Yah I can see why someone might want to keep this quiet given Ukraine and Israel. But maybe you like giving the "enemy" the word one of major heads of your military is out of commission. I'm pretty sure Biden knew all about this.

You wouldn’t want the president’s top security advisor or the National Security Council to know?

You wouldn’t want the president’s top security advisor or the National Security Council to know?

The article only cites the two unnamed "administration officials" were unaware of whether the President had been notified. It's just as likely that Biden was informed and that his administration was competent enough that it was a need-to-know situation, or do you suddenly have full faith in the MSM? :ROFLMAO:

They got him now!!! ("They" being BabyBoobs, and "him" being President Biden)

The article never said they didn't know, now did it?

But please continue showing your outrage at a perfectly logical way to internally handle a potential security situation.

A couple of board members are suggesting this is fake news. Let’s hope they’re right. At this point, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Pentagon didn’t inform Biden, White House for days about Austin’s hospitalization

The news came as a shock to top staff, including national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

The Pentagon did not tell President Joe Biden and other top officials about Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s hospitalization for three days, three U.S. officials said.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan and other senior White House aides didn’t know of Austin’s Jan. 1 hospitalization until the Defense Department sent over word Jan. 4, two other U.S. officials said. Sullivan informed Biden shortly after DOD’s Thursday notification.

The officials said it was highly unlikely that Austin conveyed word to Biden privately before Sullivan’s briefing. “If Jake didn’t know, no way the president knew,” one of them said. “Who would have told him of Austin’s condition if not Jake? And if someone did tell the president, Jake would’ve been his first call.”

Biden held a “cordial conversation” with Austin on Saturday night, per one of the U.S. officials.

So who were those "administration officials" ? Were they in the need-to-know cicrle?

I'm sure a MAGA congressional committee will be all over this.

So the frivolous blocking of promotions for key military personnel by RWCJ MAGAt hero Tommy Tuberville was good, but the perfectly logical tight security involving the state of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s health during these militarily sensitive times was bad.

Got it…

🙄

Also:

From all reports, it was Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s call on keeping the information surrounding his health inside the Pentagon,- but, yeah, blame President Biden for… "something" ???

👍

Lets not forget though, Boomer was calling out all those times Trump was purposely kept out of the loop. Oh wait upon further review I can't find those posts....all this thread is waiting for now is Rory to come in and pronounce it dead....

More disturbing details about the Austin debacle. Maybe the president or a spokesperson will explain how this shit show unfolded.

The Lloyd Austin fallout is growing: ‘Someone’s head has to roll’

Senior White House officials are struggling to answer questions about who knew what, and when, about the former general’s medical emergency.
And since the Pentagon went public with the situation Friday night, new reports are coming in, including POLITICO’s disclosure on Saturday evening that the Pentagon had not informed President Joe Biden or the National Security Council for days that Austin was indisposed.

The strange saga has fixed Washington on one question: What is going on with the secretary of Defense?
The series of events, detailed to POLITICO by 10 current and former U.S. officials who were granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter, has raised questions about why Austin and his team went to such lengths to keep his situation under wraps. It’s also caused a major embarrassment for an administration that prides itself on professionalism, communication and teamwork — especially as it contrasts itself to the chaos of Donald Trump’s presidency.

Look up US HIPPA laws and explain how other government officials could have legally reported on Austin’s condition without his consent and without violating the law.

Considering that Trump keeps on saying that Obama is president, Biden isn't too senile.

Give me 5, I'll root out my file of Trump senility.

That’s ridiculous. HIPPA laws would not prohibit him from disclosing his situation to his vacationing 2nd in command assigned to fill in, or the key players in the national security chain of command. His statement only addressed his regrets about mishandling communications to the public. He skirted the issue of failure to inform key personnel, including POTUS. He needs to step down.

HIPPA laws would prohibit any public disclosure by officials who knew or sharing outside of a need-to-know circle.

When you’re vacationing in Puerto Rico while assuming the duties of your boss who has mysteriously gone off the grid for 4 days. 😂

You know this is irrelevant when BabyBoobs didn’t include a "poll" showing Americans give less than zero fucks about Lloyd Austin keeping his medical situation secret.

Are you suggesting HIPPA laws prohibited Austin from telling President Biden, or his #2 deputy who was assigned to be acting DefSec while she was vacationing in Puerto Rico, or National security adviser Jake Sullivan and other senior White House aides?
