Relaxing the throat and lots of practice is key. When I gag I take some deep breaths through my nose. I accept the reflex, relax more, and keep going. Some guys (mine included) like it when I gag, for whatever reason.

And yeah that seems like a good technique. I learned how to do it without gagging, but I just had to concentrate the first few times and learn how to relax my throat. As soon as I think about the dick in my throat, I start to gag.

As a guy, I can't guarantee I'll be a ton of help, but I dated a girl once who really wanted to deep-throat me and had trouble with it at first (in fact, she actually got sick the first time she tried).
