I dyed my hair last night...the box said dark brown...my hair is now black. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

I can only hope that it really isn't as black as I think it is...if nothing else, I'm ready for Halloween a tad early, just need to get me a cape and a pointy hat and we'll be all set.

********
Another meaningless post

It'll lighten, Sammy

After a few washes with a hard shampoo (Suave, White Rain) it will lighten up. I've done enough things to my hair that I consider myself somewhat of an expert at it. lol

If washing doesn't help, try another dye over it... like a light ash blonde. It will most certainly lighten it to a shade of brown, and the black hair will be a thing of the past.

SJo...Have you seen your hair totally dry and in any bright (like sun) light? :) It'll help. Hair is naturally darker when wet. Also, most home lightbulbs have a yellowish tint to them. Not the best for "bright" light. :D Good luck!

Sammyjo; what you need to do is buy a clarifying shampoo suave is the best for this. Wash it about 6-8 times it won't all come out but it will be something you can live with. Been where you are I had gone red and wanted to go back next time use the light brown it might work better. Hope this helps that is what my hairdresser told me to do. If still not happens go to the salon they might be able to help more.

Thanks...I'm sure it's not as bad as I think it is...

Actually, this might be my natural color. I usually lighten it to a light-brown or auburn...dependent upon my mood...so since I haven't had my natural color in a few years, who knows anymore? As long as the grey is covered, which it is, I'm fine.

Now, if this isn't a good way to waste your 1000th post, I don't know what is....

Hey! I resemble that remark

Considering we have never met, I am sure that comment is not directed at me personally. However, on behalf of natural brunettes everywhere, I kind of take offense to those remarks! :(

OK- not really. :) I have naturally black - not dark brown- hair that goes down to my butt. Granted there are the occasional silver ones interspersed throughout now, but overall it remains mostly pitch black.

I admit it does come in handy at this time of year as I had little to do to come up with anything original for Halloween. Many a year I dressed up as either Cher or Morticia Adams. Now all I need to do is find a Gomez. Or Lurch. Or even a Thing.

(*note: No Uncle Fester's need apply*)

I need spray on hair myself........................

I dyed my hair a dark red once and after several washings it lightened to a nice carrot red. (It might have something to do with my hair being blonde and not able to hold color all that well) Needless to say it will lighten.

God, I love redheads and blonds and brunettes.

Wait a minute, is this CL's daughter? OOPS

Brainy Beauty: No, no...no offense meant...I have naturally dark brown hair, but as I said, usually dye it auburn-ish...so, it's been awhile since I've had my normal hair color...this very well may be it. I just know that when I looked at myself after I dried it out last night, that the first thing I thought of was I looked like a stereotypical witch. Sounds like we are twins separated at birth...heehee

Wizard...I think you told me that once...you are such a cutie :)

WitchsKat...that reminds me of my sister...she has this carrot red color naturally, and I think redheads have a REAL hard time coloring their hair because she tried to do it black once, and ended up with patches of color everywhere...looked like a calico cat...too funny. I love it when little kids do cute things like that...I think she was all of 12...my mom warned her, but she didn't listen. Now, her hair seems to have taken on a deeper red color, probably the aging effect most people seem to get darker as they get older.

Actually I was 21 at the time and I'm a natural blonde. I was in Italy at the time and though I couldn't speak Italian all that well, I did get the "You want to go from blonde to red???" My aunt went nuclear when she found out. He He He He He

Just teasing, WitchsKat. I am probably at least the age of your mom, maybe older. I am equally protective of my daughters and both of them know that. They have convinced me that if I am needed, they will let me know. :)

I kind of figured that. I've said something similar to CL, and she knows it. I used my umbrella on a perv in France.

Ok now you have me thinking back and trying to figure out exactly what my natural haircolor is. I havent seen it in 8 years oh wow!! I believe it was a dark auburn but i prefer it a lighter auburn shade darker hair makes me look too pale.

I had a friend tell me that Tide will lighten hair coloring. It seemed to work when I had my eyebrows dyed black by a wacked out beautician who told me how natural it looked! Imagine two black slashes across my glow-in-the-dark pale skin and golden blonde hair. Needless to say all I needed was some black roots, a pair of daisy dukes and a tube top to be crowned queen of the white trash!

Re: Hey! I resemble that remark

Sammy congrats on your thousand and hope that you find your time here as well spent in the future as in the past. I can remember when you had the second most posts here... seems to be just a memory though.

Long hair... mmmmm yum.

Da chef

Chef, it was a very good memory...that was a) before everyone jumped on the I'm-gonna-get-1,000 posts-if-it-kills-me-so-I-can-choose-my-own-title-bullshit, and b)before I realized how much time I've spent reading, listening, and responding to nonsensical drivel...no, this isn't an attack on anyone.

Thank you everyone for your stories and advice...some of this is so funny. Memories...that's what we cling to. If anyone else would like to share your misery or humor, don't be shy...

OK...gotta head out to work...doing good for someone, I'm sure.

Sammyjo.. LOL, girlfriend. I apologize for being so self-centered whilst trying to make a joke and failing to acknowledge your milestone. Congratulations on reaching 1000 posts. I have enjoyed reading most of them over the last several months. Since you are part of the old guard, you deserve a new title worthy of your contributions here.

They were submitted in a timely and reasonable fashion. Not to be fashionable.

Cheffie....you still breathing? Let me know if my hair gets in your way... ;)

Brainy Beauty...I'm glad you realized the error of your ways :D Thank you for the compliment, it was much appreciated. I think you will do well here ;)

I don't know if I will change my title or not...I guess I'll have to wait and see if I can think of something worthy of me.

*hugs and kisses to all*
