Decadents and Dropouts IC

Gryph

"Not really, I was the one who didn't want to let him go. Gods that hurt! Couldn't you have gotten me drunk before mending muscle?"

He gave her a friendly grin, and touched her shoulder,

"Come now Phyliss, it's not that bad, with your help it's just a scratch or do you mourn the dead barbarian who would have killed us all to get to you?"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss kissed him, while her tears were still flowing. Her magic really did work to rebuild her friend, so there was no reason to worry. She looked over to Haerdon. "I knew you would win, or I would no9t let have fought you. So he had to die." her voice was still unstable, as some tears crept down her cheeks. "But I feel sorry nevertheless. I only brought him bad luck."

Gryph

"Bad luck he brought upon himself when he decided to hunt you even after he was warned, he had so many ways to meet his end, you should be happy that he died a warrior, his ancestors will now welcome him and he can now feast with all his fellow warriors."

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss wiped away the tears, but still some new came.
"You are right. But shouldn't we bury him?" Phyliss got up, her voice now confident, and her pose powerul, if not even a bit dramatic.
"Skandölf! Colin! Get some tools to prepare a burial!"
Colin looked silently at Skandölf, who remained cool as usual (except for the sea-creature).
"Lady, may I suggest a sea-burial? I am more confirm with that."

Gryph

"He stays a barbarian, we can't do it the normal way as we are not sure of his status. Build a pyre, as the one that killed him, I will light it as soon as this wound have decided to stop twitching, burning and hurting me. As he had died with my sword in his hand, that will have to do as his weapon into the after life."

Grimacing he heaved himself to his feet, slipping out of the straps of his backpack as it was pulling him down again. Taking a deep breath, he looked down at the corpse of the barbarian and sighed, it usually was a waste, but he had no choice.

"I will build the stone to his memory."

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss didn't know anything about barbarian customs, but that sound reasonable.
"Allright, get some wood for the pyre then." The two sailors moved off, to do as they were told. Phyliss got beside Gryph, so that he could put his weight on her while walking and getting up. Of course this thought was quite ridiculus, but the gorgon didn't think of that for the moment.

Gryph

He smiled at Phyliss' help and patted her shoulder gently and held her to him with the same arm, offering his own type of consolation.

"Seems like I have ruined the mood for you and Trunfor,"

he spoke softly so that only the gorgon could hear him,

"But I think after this there would be no further pressing matters apart from Relic and I still think she played her deception game very well as it almost had me fooled as well. If you see her again would you give her the benefit of the doubt at least? As a favor to me?"

Relic

The journey through the forest took longer than expected, thanks to some 'uncomfortable' moments dealing with the natives. The spirits among the old grown forest seemed to feel mischievious tonight, but were ultimately safe to play with. Of course when Relic just wanted to sleep, having been awake a good two days with little to go on but her meditation, it annoyed her slightly. Sometimes she just couldn't take it as good as she could give it.

Mischief that is.

Her horse seemed more spooked by the dancing and prancing of forest shadows and the creeking of branches, so letting her guard down was not an immediate option. But once they had moved out into the open fields that surrounded the road leading towards the village and city they had visited earlier, she let the reins go a little more and relaxed back into the saddle. Her head drooping ever so gently as she rode back towards the river, and the cog.

She wondered if the barbarian was dead. If he was possibly released already, and stalking Phyliss still. Perhaps Relic had annoyed him enough to side track him, would he hide in wait for her now too? At least she would have something in common with the gorgon now, at least one man wanted her pretty badly.

Chuckling, Relic wiped her eyes, the sleep hoping to claim her sooner than she could allow.

Phyliss Ovida

"If you ask me a favour, how could I resist?" She leaned onto him, as she was no help in supporting his weight. "Although I don't really trust her by now. But after I lost Verialyn, I often longed for a female friend." she looked up to Tronfur, and spoke louder now. "I love you both, each the way you are. And you both haven't been jealous to each other by now... But maybe a second woman on board will make life easier. If she learns to behave, of course."

Gryph

He chuckled,

"Good then at least we can have one extra set of eyes to help keep a lookout."

By now the blood have stopped running from his wound and pieces of his skin started to bind. It wouldn't take long before they would be on their way and Gryph could catch some rest.

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor walked over to Gryph and asked him if he needed ay help. When they got to the point of what to do with the babarian Trunfor spoke up, "Before we get rid of his body, I think we should get some answers from it. With your permission Phyliss, and your Gryph, I`d like to raise his body and ask it some questions."

Gryph

"Necromancy?"

Gryph shuddered,

"As long as you do it far away from me I have no objections, but I will make it clear that I don't like the practice."

Trunfor Blackheart

"Don`t worry, I don`t specialize in it. I specialize in the schools of enchantment and evocation. And one shouldn`t fear necromancy. It has unusual ways but it`s not all evil. Only those who misuse it give it a bad reputation."

Trunfor walked over to the corpse and knelt down next to it. "Before I begin, you must know that this spell grants the semblance of life and intelligence to a corpse, allowing it to answer several questions that I put to it. The corpse`s knowledge is limited to what the person knew during life. Answers are usually brief, cryptic, or reperitive. Now this spell does not let me actually speak to the person. There soul has departed, Instead the body draws on the imprinted knowledge stored in the corpse. The partially animated body retains the imprint of the soul that once inhabited it and thus can speak with all the knowledge that the person had while alive."

Phyliss Ovida

"Oh..well, why not. Maybe it is a good idea." Phyliss was suddenly curious to see what Tronfur would ask, but she althoug wanted to comfort Gryph. But as Haerdon laid close to the cog, it should be possible to do both while she sat on the reiling. She wasn't afraid of that necromancy, and have never really witnessed it before.

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor turned back to the corpse and muttered a few words in Draconic, "Renthisj mrith loex." A small noise can be heard from the corpse as it rises. The eyes, empty and lifeless, shift to Trunfor.

"My name is Trunfor and I`ve awakened you to ask you some questions. First, why did Haerdon try to kill Phyliss?"

((I'm bored, so ignore Relic arriving a little early.))

Relic

It took no more time to return once the naughty forest spirits were behind her, than it had to reach the mountain in the first place. She must have been slower in traveling in her youth, because the distances no longer seemed to warrant the two day journey title. But she would enjoy a bed to be certain.

Her eyes picked up the outline of the cog as she moved among the treeline, the river still there, not that it had anywhere else to go of course. Gryph and Phyliss seemed to be comforting one another, and Trunfor seemed to be beside a corpse.

Ha! They did kill the barbarian, Relic was pleased with the decision.

For now she stayed away, letting Trunfor ask his questions. But soon she slowly walked in closer, so her presence would be known. Although for now she stayed back to watch the conversation with the dead body.

Phyliss Ovida

After Phyliss was sure that Gryph was comfortable, she lied down on the reiling, watching Tronfur closeles and listening to his words. The body of Haerdon really moved.

"My name is Trunfor and I`ve awakened you to ask you some questions. First, why did Haerdon try to kill Phyliss?"

The body answered in a toneless voice:
"Haerdon did not want to kill Phyliss. He wanted to capture her alive."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor looked over at Phyliss, "I can only ask it a certain number of questions so do you mind if I ask why Haedron was trying to capture you Phyliss?"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss spoke to Tronfur. "You could ask him that, but I can tell you as well. I guess he was looking for revenge because I tricked him once in a tavern."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor looked at Phyliss in confusion. He though that Haerdon was a bounty hunter. He`d haveto ask Phyliss later about her history. Turning back to the corpse he asked, "Who else is hunting us? Phyliss, Gryph, and my other companions."

Relic

Stopping about fifty meters out from the corpse of Haerdron, Relic scoffed at the reply. Like getting captured alive was any better. Relic would prefer the honor of a quick death rather than life imprisonment as a barbarians little sex doll. Not that she wouldn't do her absolute best to kill him first, but in the event they were the better fighter, a quick death would suit her fine.

Dismounting, she removed the heavy bag from her horses saddle, putting it over her shoulder gently.

Looking around, there seemed to be no hurry to leave. And there was enough room between the cog and the tree line if they were attacked. Archers would be the main problem, since the distance was of little concern to them.

Standing beside her horse, for once Relic waited patiently, not saying a word. Although deep down she wanted to say a lot of things. She wasn't a complete idiot.

Gryph

He picked up a familiar smell, it was Relic. She had returned much sooner than he had anticipated. He scanned their surroundings and finally found her and her horse hidden behind some bushes, without trying to hide away. Of course she was being cautious which was a good thing, he glanced at Phyliss, Trunfor and the animated Haerdon, then got to his feet, the healing spell was working it's magic and he felt much better. He looked directly at Relic to make her understand that he knew she was there and then started to hunt for rocks to set up rune stones in Haerdon's honor.

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss was top absorbed with Tronfurs nekromantic act to care for anything else. She noticed that Gryph walked down and looked for stones, so her healing had worked well enough. She was happy that he was better, and there was no need to stay on borad. She glid down the reiling and landed softly on the ground, as she simply jumped off the reiling.

"Who else is hunting us? Phyliss, Gryph, and my other companions."

"Many hunters." said a tonless voice. "Mad Dog and Blades. The Ma'ant. Thee'o'reel."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor shrugged and turned away from the corpse, "I don`t know what esle to ask it."

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss had a question in mind, but did not dare to speak it. "Do you forgive me?"
But she didn't tell this to Trunfor. But another thing came into her mind. How could she forget that? She cursed herself for not asking before.
"Wait! Ask him about Verialyn, my friend we lost as he raided Marcus place!"
